A lot of relevant and interesting issues discussed here.
There is a big difference between fantasy and reality. Both men and women have a lot of sexual fantasies that are just that - fantasy. There is no desire to have it be real in any way.
Fifty Shades of Grey attempted to tap into a fantasy for a subset of women. It got dubbed as mommy porn because of the number of married women with kids who were into it. But it got a lot of criticism for its dangerous and inaccurate portrayal of BDSM. BDSM is consensual and has plenty of rules to ensure the safety and pleasure of the people involved. FSOG completely ignored consent and safety.
It was clearly written by some vanilla woman trying to be edgy but had no clue what she was doing. Most women I know who got into the series would never even consider light bondage in real life. That is why women do not secretly desire Christian Grey. He is a fantasy that fascinates them - that is all.
My incredulity with the series is that it got famous. I don't get why women even pay to get their Mills and Boon type romance novels. That's what fanfiction is for. But then many of these women don't follow any ships or kinks etc. A sultry novel is the most excitement some of them have.
Kabir Singh is a whole different story. Christian Grey appeals to a fantasy, Kabir Singh appeals to conditioning. Many cultures promote alpha men as desirable. They portray alpha men as the only ones who can truly protect and care for women. Women are also conditioned to believe that feminity can tame or soften bad boys. That if a man softens for them it is a sign that they are successful as women.
But these are archaic notions that are rapidly changing. Women are human after all and have their own dreams, aspirations, personalities. Ultimately, they desire compatible partners who let them be themselves. There will always be the one-off woman who is genuinely into alpha men. But on the whole, most women find alpha men like Kabir Singh frightening and repulsive.
Now as some people have pointed out rich and/or good looking men do get more leeway. Men do the same rich and/or good looking women do get away with cruel behavior. But on the whole, very few humans are completely blinded by looks/wealth. There is a threshold. A good looking man may get away with being a bit persistent picking up a woman - but a Kabir Singh tends to be universally problematic (with few exceptions)
