Chapter 42

Just a little before half past five, they reached their destination. The hotel, a looming white five storey structure, seemed very impressive and was very conveniently located on the Nakki Lake Road, just as the travel agent had boasted.

As soon as the car stopped in front of the main entrance, one of the bell boys ran to the car and after learning that they had a booking, called for another person who informed them that he would park the car for them and bring back the keys at the reception while they completed the check-in process.

Naina watched a little nervously as Sameer walked out of the car, leaving all the luggage behind. She pulled on his arm and started “Sameer, saara samaan… aur gaddi aise hi chod ke kaise…” He smiled at her reassuringly “Aare, yeh toh unka job hai. Kuch nahi hoga, samaan pohoch jayega room mein.” Though not completely convinced, she followed him to the reception area. As Sameer spoke to the lady at the reception and completed their details in their check-in register, Naina looked around curiously.

On one side, the reception lead into a sprawling lounge, which was filled with many plush black leather sofa and armchair sets. Few coffee tables with glass tops were placed around the room too. Though it was mostly empty at the time, there was one distinguished looking man occupying one of the armchairs flipping through some files. In another corner an elderly couple was sipping on some hot drinks. There were a lot of big potted plants, placed strategically, to create the illusion of privacy. Five big sparking chandeliers hung, while many more bulbs were fitted in the ceiling. Few bronze statues and some Rajasthani murals on the walls, further added to the opulent feel of the room.

Sameer having completed all the formalities walked over to where she was and asked “Theek toh laga na tumhe?” She looked at him wide eyed “Theek?? Sameer, yeh toh bahoot jyada khoobsurat hai! Hum pure char din yaha rahenge?!” He teased “Nahi, bus aaj ki raat yaha rukenge… kal kissi lodge mein shift ho jayenge.” For a moment, she almost believing him nodded “Acha…” and then realising he was just pulling her leg cast him an irritated look “Aap bhi na..” He chuckled and then showed her the keys “Room number 409 hai, fourth floor pe. Naina, reception wale bata rahe thay ke abhi bus 25-30 minutes mein unki ek shuttle jayegi sunset point. Toh, hum log jaldi se fresh hoke neeche aate hai.” She nodded happily as the prospect of finally seeing something of the much dreamed about Mount Abu.

As they stepped out of the elevator, they turned right and found their room. When Sameer opened the door, their luggage was already deposited in the room. Naina felt some relief seeing that the bellboy had not disappeared with their belongings.

The room was very luxurious too. The agent had not stretched the truth when he had said that they would be getting an almost five-star accommodation for the price of a four star. As Sameer walked around taking in the fittings and the quality of the furniture, Naina gasped “Sameer, yeh toh bahoot mehenga hoga na… Humme kissi aur agent se baat karni chahiye thi… shayad kuch aur bhi mil jata…” He walked over to her and taking both her hands in his, said “Naina, yeh sab mat socho… dekho yeh humara honeymoon hai, sab kuch special toh hona hi chahiye!”

When she still didn’t look convinced, he chuckled “Yaar, shaadi toh waise hi free mein ho gayi thi humari… ab honeymoon pe toh thoda kharcha kar hi sakte hai, right?” She laughed as she nodded her head in agreement and then added “Pata hai, Taiji ko bahoot mirchi lagi thi iss baat se ke papa ko meri shaadi pe itna kum karcha karna pada!” He tugged her closer and responded “Acha, toh ab mujhe kya milega iss free shaadi ki khushi mein?? She blushed and mumbled “Jo bhi… aap chahe…” His heartbeats quickened and he asked gruffly “Such mooch?? Kuch bhi??” She trembled slightly and then stammered “Par… abhi toh jana hai na?”

He glanced in the direction of the clock on the wall and reluctantly let go of her hand, but not before quickly kissing her cheek. Fifteen minutes later, he had changed into a dark blue t-shirt and Naina was in a forest green and pink shalwar-kameez. As she exited the bathroom, she dumped the saree and other clothes in the closet and then pulling a shawl out off the bag announced she was ready. Sameer adjusted his hair one last time and they took the elevator down to the reception.

The lady at the reception pointed them in the direction of the dark blue Maruti Van parked outside. When they entered the vehicle, an elderly couple was already inside, occupying the seat behind the driver. Naina realised that they were the same couple she had noticed in the lounge earlier. Murmuring some Namastes, the Maheshwaris slipped in the back seat. The driver mentioned that they would leave in another 5 minutes, as some more guests were expected.

The lady turned around and asked them where they were originally from and then informed them that they were Mr and Mrs Sharma from Chittorgarh. When Mrs Sharma established a few questions later that Sameer and Naina were there for their honeymoon, she revealed with a big smile and a twinkle in her eyes “Tumhare uncle aur main bhi honeymoon pe yahi aaye thay. Iss saal humari 35th Anniversary hai, toh socha phir se Mount Abu hi chale.” Sameer and Naina offered their congratulations and best wishes.

Just then another couple with two little girls, one about 5-6 years old and another about 2 years old arrived. They introduced themselves as Ajay and Ankita from Mehsana. Ajay settled in the front seat next to the driver with his oldest in his lap, while Ankita got in the middle seat, next to the Sharmas with the toddler. Finally, they were on their way. The ride to the Sunset point took about seven minutes, which wasn’t very long at all, but the climb was steep and would have probably taken the present company close to half an hour.

It was a few minutes walk from the drop-off point to the hilltop, where a fairly big crowd had already gathered. Sameer found themselves a spot on a rock and they settled down to await the sunset. He pulled out his camera and started clicking a number of photos, some of the breath-taking views, but mostly of his wife. She in turn blushed and smiled, as she posed for him. This was new, the first time he was looking at her through the lens, and she modelled for him.

While the sky had started taking on different hues, which were changing by the moment, the sun was still not quite done for the day. For thousands of years, artists have tried to capture and bring to life this miracle of nature on a canvas. Some have done a brilliant job, while others really struggled, but probably none have done true justice.  Naina mumbled that based on the sunset time for the day, as mentioned by Mr Sharma earlier in the van, there were about another nine minutes to go. Both watched the everyday and yet miraculous phenomenon unfolding on the horizon.

As the sun moved on, to bring another day full of promise and opportunities to another place, the ones saying bye to it, would reflect on all that they had received that day. Some would smile contently, while some may shed a few tears at what the day took away with it.

Sameer had always relished the nights more. In the past he had looked forward to the solitude, to the respite from the mask that has to be worn while the bright light leaves us bare to all. The seemingly constant noise in the hostel and even later in Delhi, would at times become too much to handle! The sun as it bid goodbye, would take away all that and leave behind some much required calm.

But, things had changed drastically since she arrived. Though he still looked forward to the night, and probably even more desperately now, it was for very different reasons. Now, he waited for her company, her smiles, her chatter... In short just her! He sighed in relief that there would be no more goodbyes now at the end of the day.

Naina looked around at all the couples, especially the young ones, wrapped in their bubble of love. It was evident that a number of them were unmarried. Some might end up together, but some definitely wouldn't. How would the ones who part, remember this moment? Would they regret it, when they watched another sunset in the company of another beloved years later? Or will it still continue to be a fond and cherished memory? Or even worse, would some categorize the rest of their life as Bus Jee Rahe Hai, and relive this sunset in their hearts a thousand times more?

The night before, he had wished he had arrived in Ahmedabad long back and met her. Naina now wondered what sort of story they could have had? His months of reluctance, did not fill her with much hope that he would have fallen in love with her at first sight. And she, with her head bent over books, was not ever aware of the handsome lads in her vicinity. After all, they had spent a year in the same college, without ever bumping into each other. She glanced at him gazing at the horizon, thinking she would never tire of looking at him. What would it have been like to fall for him from afar? Would she have found the courage to do something about it or reach out to him? And would he have found her any different to the other girls who drooled over him? None of it mattered, he was here with her now. And yet, the thought that this sunset could have never featured in their lives, was rather unsettling.

Sameer's reverie broke as he felt her slip her arm around his and snuggled closer to rest her head against his shoulder. As he entwined their fingers, he noticed her grip was a little tighter than expected. Did she just shiver? He asked softly "Thand lag rahi hai kya? Shawl odh lo... " She mumbled she was fine and yet further pressed against him. He leaned to her side and gently rubbed his cheek against the top of her head.

Suddenly a hush seemed to fall all around, the magnificent orange ball completed its final descent for the evening. That last minute or so, when it so rapidly disappears over the horizon... as though the horses drawing its chariot had dug deep for that one last gallop homewards. The crowd assembled, stood lost in wonder for another minute and then the chatter resumed.

Both found the moment too satisfying to let it end so soon. And so they sat silently till only a handful of scattered souls were left behind.

He soaked in her presence, deeply inhaling her fragrance, her hold on his arm almost anchoring him and revelled in her soft self against him. She murmured “Bus abhi toh suraj dooba hai, aur dekho taare timtimane bhi lage… Kitna khoobsurat deekh raha hai na aasmaan!” He made a Hmmm sound in agreement, his mind drifting and thinking, Aaj se aasmaan chahe jaisa bhi ho, humari toh har raat khoosurat hi hogi…

Sameer looked at her slightly upwards tilted face, as she admired the stars a content smile playing on her lips, he felt desire stir deep within. But along with that need, he felt some else, a tiny gnawing sense of apprehension as he vaguely remembered that one time he had kissed a girl, and he hadn’t really felt anything. What if it was the same with her? What if it did not live up to all these feelings of excitement and anticipation? He wondered a little flustered, and why this sudden need for intimacy?!

No! This need was neither sudden and nor was it just about the kiss. His love for her and the accompanying restlessness had been growing steadily for a long time now. When it came to her, it had never been about just attraction. Out of nowhere, it hit him, they had shared so much, but never actually said those three little words. The need to hear that proclamation from her lips, overtook everything else. Why had she never said them? Because, you haven’t said them either, you moron! a small voice mocked.

He pulled his arm out of her hold and put it around her. Pulling her closer, he urgently whispered “I love you, Naina.” She stilled, her cheeks turned the colour of countryside climbing roses and then leaned against his chest, all the while, her heartbeat accelerating. After waiting impatiently, as a couple of minutes filled with silence went by, he tugged her hand to his lips, saying “Tum nahi kahogi?” She muttered “Iss mein kehene wali kya baat hai? Aap jaante toh hai hi na…” He insisted “Ha, jaanta hu. Par, mujhe sunna bhi hai! Tumhare hoton se…” When she stayed quiet fidgeting with the shawl in her lap, he asked “Tumhe acha nahi laga kya sunn ke?”. When she nodded her head vigorously in strong agreement, he pouted “Toh, tumhe bhi kehna hoga…” Looking around, he made up his mind and announced “Hum tab tak yaha se wapas nahi jayenge, jab tak tum mujhe woh kehti nahi ho!”

Naina’s heart hammered erratically against her ribcage, a little torn between the need to escape and giddy with joy soar high above the mountain tops, and to be held hostage by him for many more lifetimes. For some reason unknown to her, she was finding it hard… or maybe just overwhelming, to spill the words that she had carried in her soul for so long, His whole being impatient, he nudged her “Naina, bolo na…” She let go of the ends of the shawl, and curled her fingers around the wrist of his free hand resting in his lap. Probably, reassured by his frantically pounding pulse under her fingertips, she whispered “I… love you.” He rushed to encircle her into an embrace and murmured “I love you too!” A new sense of belonging, a renewal of their commitment to each other and an immense contentment, all fell into place in that moment.

Once again they sat in a quiet cocoon. A thought fleeted across Naina’s mind, a man and woman confessing their love for each other and accepting the other whole heartedly while the universe bears silent witness, is this what a Gandharva Vivah was meant to be? She shivered a bit, as she felt his thumb deliciously rub against her waist.

Her very simply expressed love, gave arise to uncountable emotions in him. Strangely, sitting atop that hill, Sameer felt like he had banished a platoon of demons and emerged a victor! He wanted to scream to the world, she loves me. She truly loves me! I am just as lovable as the rest of you!

Her dark brown eyes gazed at him full of love, laaj, and a desire that she hadn't quite understood yet. His darker orbs reflected love, joy and a slight surprise at this new assured knowledge that he was the centre of her universe.

Sameer thought the ritual at the end of a Christian wedding ceremony where the priest declares, You may now kiss the bride, made complete sense. How was any man expected to resist his soul's craving, when his beloved has just publicly accepted him as her husband and promised to love and treasure him for the rest of their lives?! But, they were in Mount Abu and not Santa Barbara, and so he tried to curb his enthusiasm and instead just planted a quick kiss on her soft cheek. She blushing, glanced around and then kissed back his cheek with just as much quickness.

The few other brave or maybe just idle souls who were left behind started making their way back down the hill too. A middle aged local man, kindly called out “Beta, jyada der akele mat baithe rehna. Waise toh humara Mt Abu safe hai… par sath mein tumhari patni bhi hai, toh sambhalke.” The responsible husband mode kicked in and he called out “Ji Uncle. Hum bhi chalte hai neeche.” He stood up and offering his hand pulled her up as well.

Naina addressed the well-wisher “Uncleji, please humara ek photo nikal dijiye.” The man looked around sceptically and said “Beta, itna andhera hone laga hai… photo kuch theek nahi aayegi.” Sameer agreed “Ha, Uncle theek keh rahe hai… hum phir aayenge tab le lenge… abhi aur teen char din hain na yaha.” She insisted handing the camera to the uncleji “Koi baat nahi… jaisa bhi aaye… bus ek nikal dijiye!” The man smiled obligingly and then asking them to stand under the one lone street lamp clicked a photo, all the while thinking, Aur aise shuru hota hai ghrihastashram! Biwi jo kahe… bus sunno and karo… aadmi ki sari samajhdari ek taraf aur biwi ke nakhre ek taraf!

About a fifteen-minute walk later, they reached they reached the marker area, which also as per their shuttle driver had most of the best eating spots in the town. There were a lot of restaurants, big and small, all brimming with tourists. A stroll around, quickly revealed that though the main two cuisines ruling the roost were Rajasthani and Gujrathi, there were a lot of other options too. A not so creatively named ‘Paratha House’ had a menu offering over two dozen parathas, plus Chole-Bhature. Couple of chat stalls were drawing a huge crowd mostly consisting of youngsters and some middle aged women.

What caught Sameer's eye though, was a place by the name of ‘King of Noodles’. Considering, it was probably the only place offering Chinese cuisine, well Indian-Chinese cuisine... in at least a hundred kilometres radius, claiming to be the King wasn’t really an exaggeration. Once quick check of the menu hung outside assured them that Sweet Corn Soup was available, and so they headed inside.

A young chap led them to a cosy table and then came back a couple of minutes later to take their order. As Sameer ordered a one-by-two corn soup, Gobi Manchurian, veg Chow Mein noodles and fried rice, his wife tried to say that they wouldn't need so much as she also wanted to eat ice cream after the meal, but he brushed away her objections murmuring he was starving.

When the food arrived he waited eagerly to see her reaction to the Sweet Corn Soup, and then happily dived into his own bowl, as soon as she remarked with twinkling eyes "Yeh toh such mooch meetha hai! Ekdum alag hai! Par, acha wala alag..."

While she relished her soup half a spoon at a time, his bowl was empty in just under two minutes and he helped himself to the main meal. She watched, almost staring, amused at the speed and concentration with which he was eating. He suddenly paused and noticing her scrutiny remarked "Aise kya dekh rahi ho?! Aaj peheli baar thodehi mujhe khana khate dekh rahi ho..." She giggled " Ha, par bahar toh khana khate peheli baar hi dekh rahi hu... Kitna fast khate hai aap! Aare khana kahi bhaga toh nahi jaa raha hai. "

He looked a little uneasy and then muttered "Tumhe kya pata hai, hostel mein rehna kya hota hai... Mess mein kuch acha agar galti se ban jaaye toh jaldi hi khana padta hai... Warna sab gul! Samjhi? Bus aadat ho gayi hai..." She now smiled warmly and replied trying to keep it light "Par, ab toh aap hostel mein nahi rehte... Aur, dariye mat, main itna nahi khati hu!" He laughed too, but then pouted "Aur, main toh tumhe movie ke baad khana khilane le gaya tha... Par maike wale milte hi, tum toh mujhe bhool hi gayi thi... " After sulking for thirty seconds, he smiled "Naina, matlab yeh officially humara first dinner date hai!" She nodded in happy agreement.

After dinner, they walked to an ice cream parlour. Though Naina spent a fair bit of time asking the guy behind the counter about the different flavours and tested a few samples too, in the end she ordered her usual chocolate ice cream in a cup. Sameer just asked for a kesar-pista and then they settled on a couple of chairs placed outside the shop.

Couple of spoonful later, Naina fed a spoon of her ice cream to him. Sameer playfully complained "Yaar, ab yeh meri ice cream toh pheeki taste karegi..." She blushed as she admitted "Uss din bhi bahoot mann hua tha, aap ko ice cream khilane ka... Par himmat hi nahi hui..." He quipped " kiss din?? " She explained "Jab aap mere birthday pe mujhe law garden le gaye thay." And then blushing even more, she added "Mere liye toh wahi hamesha mera... matlab humara first date rahega." He chuckled "Acha? Aur main khamakhaam hi tumhe date karne mein laga raha!"

He fed her a spoonful of his ice cream and then remarked "Waise manna padega... Hum dono bilkul made for each other hai... Jisse tum date soch rahi thi, mujhe samajh nahi aaya. Aur jab main tumhe date karne mein laga tha, tumhare sar ke upar se chala gaya!" She feed him another spoon and declared " For the record, yeh humara dusra ice cream date hai! " As he finished the rest of the ice cream he was thinking, Kya baat hai... aaj toh Mrs Maheshwari ekdum romantic ho rahi hai... Pehele chai share karni thi, aur ab adha ice cream toh mujhe hi khila rahi hai! Aaj toh pakka meetha milega!

The walk back to the hotel was a bit of a test for Sameer, who wanted to get back as soon as possible, while his wife chose to amble and awe over every pretty sight or the tiny stalls offering an array of local handicrafts. When she stopped to gush over some puppies frolicking with their mother, Sameer grumbled “Naina, kutte dekhne kyun ruki ho??” She looked at him uncertainly “Par, aapko hi toh kutte itne ache lagte hai… Aur yeh puppies toh kitne cute hai!”

He plastered a small fake smile and stood apparently admiring the puppies for a whole minute and then urged her forward “Chalo, ab hotel jaake thoda aaram karte hai.” She suddenly looked very concerned and muttered “Ha, aap toh itna driving karke bahoot thak bhi gaye honge aaj! Papa bhi hamesha kehte hai ke jyada der driving karne se unki peeth mein dard hone lagta hai.” She started walking briskly and continued “Hotel jaake na ekdum garam paani se nah lijiye, aur phir jaldi so jayiye. Kal tak saari thakaan khatam ho jayegi!”

Sameer turned in her direction astonished and thinking, Jaldi so jao?! Kya bol rahi hai yeh?? Abhi toh ice cream khila rahi thi… Yaar, bahoot hi mixed signals deti hai yeh ladki! He retorted “Tumhare Papa aur meri umar mein bahoot farak hai! Main itna jaldi thak nahi jata hu.” She chagrined by the sharpness in his tone, gulped and replied “Mera woh matlab nahi tha…” Going quiet she thought to herself, Naina, tu bhi na… bina soche bolne mein expert hai! Naraaz toh honge hi na… Sasur ke sath kaise compare kar liya inhe?

When her mere words seemed to fail to ease his annoyance, she slipped her arm around his and walked a little closer. This action seemed to have the desired effect, cause a minute later when they came across a guy selling makeshift bouquets, Sameer stopped to buy a small bunch of red roses. But instead of handing it to her, he teased “Pehele promise karo ke iska Gulkand nahi banaogi!” She flushed and mumbled “Kuch bhi… hamesha thodehi aisa hi karungi…” and then playfully pulled the bunch out of his hand, as he chuckled. Sameer looked at her inhaling the fragrance and blushed a little.

On reaching the hotel, they checked the details for the breakfast time and venue, and then proceeded to their room. Sameer left her to carry on with the unpacking and headed for a shower, calling out as he closed the door “Fresh hone ke liye jar aha hu… isliye nahi ke thaka hu!” She rolled her eyes and carried on with transferring the contents of their bags to the hangers and shelves in the closets.

Some ten minutes later, when he exited the bathroom now dressed in his dark green tracks and a white t-shirt, she proudly announced “Sab theek se laga liya hai maine. Aur yeh neeche wale do shelves empty rakhe hai. Jo bhi kapde use karke ho jaye… yahi rakh denge. Ghar ja ke dhulwa dungi main, koi jarurat nahi hai khakakham hotel ki laundry mein dene ki.” He least interested in discussing laundry or the expenses associated with it, especially in that moment, muttered “Very good… ab tum bhi fresh hoke aa jao…”

She nodded and then picking her garments already wrapped in a towel proceeded to the bathroom. Once inside, Naina unwrapping the towel, looked at the contents apprehensively, as she recalled her conversation with Preeti from earlier in the day as they packed.

When they were almost done with the packing, Naina had rushed out and returned with her white shalwar-kameez. Preeti had asked in shock “Naina, tu yeh kyun leke jaa rahi hai?” Her sister had mumbled “Raat ko sone ke liye… aur kya? Bhar thodehi pehenungi isse …” Preeti had smacked her head lightly and said “Akel pe parda girha hai kya tere? Aare Pooja didi ne itni achi nightie layi thi tere liye… woh kaha hai?” Naina thinking of all that lace and what he might think, had faltered “Woh nightie?? Preeti, woh toh bahoot ajeeb lagegi… pata nahi Sameer kya sochenge…”

Preeti had then slapped her own forehead “Hey bhagwan! Main bhi kisse samjha rahi hu… Naina, agar uss mein Mummy ko kuch ajeeb nahi laga, toh tu kyun aise soch rahi hai?” Then sounding slightly irritated, she had continued “Tu na, aisa kar honeymoon par bhi Saree hi pehenke sona… phir tujhe bilkul ajeeb nahi lagega!”

Naina had blinked a few times feeling slightly agitated, as she had remembered the way his fingers had wandered over her bare belly and waist the night before and his lips on the parts her back exposed by the blouse. Just the memory had covered her in goose bumps and left her feeling a little dizzy. No, she couldn’t bear that torment every night! The nightie though lacy, definitely covered a lot more. She had put the white dress aside and packed the pink satin instead.

Returning to the present, she undressed and stood under the shower. The hot jet spray hit her body with a force that left her skin tingling. She realised that despite the shawl, the Mt Abu cold had seeped deep inside. Few minutes under the shower, and she left rejuvenated. The tiny bottles of soap and shampoos were a novelty never seen before, their fragrance heady.

About ten minutes later, she exited a very misty and perfumed bathroom, her eyes focused on the clothes in her hand, not ready to meet his eyes. She had spent almost a minute wrapping and unwrapping the towel over the nightie, but finally decided that she couldn’t go to bed with the towel around her and hence left it to dry on the bathroom rails.

The vision of his wife in that pink lace which had haunted his senses for months now, had actually materialised! Unlike that first night in his room, she was not trying to hide the lace today. Her hair was already falling in waves over her back, and some to the front hiding part of her face. But he could well discern the shy and nervous look in her downcast eyes. The silky satin clung to her, making it hard for her curves stay hidden. For the next minute, as she put her clothes away and then probably just tried to find the courage to turn around and face him, he watched her without any inhibitions. His eyes lingering and caressing, all that was visible and all that his mind conjured. The pink lace assured him, Matlab, Honeymoon ke liye yeh bhi utni hi bekarar thi...

Not able to further delay the inevitable, she turned around, a plastic bag clutched in her hands. Naina's eyes instantly grew wide, as the abundantly scattered rose petals on the bed registered. He walked over and admitted as he blushed "Gulab sirf tumhare liye nahi, humare liye, liye thay..." Holding her hand, he drew her closer to the bed. Sitting down at the foot of the bed, he pulled her down next to him and tugging the plastic bag away from her, let it slid to the ground.

She immediately bent forward to pick it muttering "Aap ko kuch dikhana tha.." He protested trying to gently pull her closer " Naina, woh jo bhi hoga kal dekh lenge. Please... abhi to bus, kuch aur mood hai. " She shook her head and insisted "Nahi, abhi deekhna hai." He shrugged his shoulders in acceptance and thought feeling a little let down, Yaar, such mooch bilkul unromantic hai yeh!

She opened the bag and pulled out a worn at the edges small book titled ‘Kabir Ke Kuch Khaas Dohe’. He looked at the book flabbergasted and asked "Tum, abhi... Dohe sunnaogi??" She looked surprised at this and uttered "Nahi toh! Yeh bhi koi dohe sunnane ka waqt hai?" He was immensely relieved.

She opened the book, to a page where something was peeking out. As a couple of wrappers of Kismi toffees folded into little dolls-with-skirts were revealed, she admitted blushing “Yeh wahi hai, jo aap ne diye thay… ek baar raat ko.” As he looked in surprise, she opened another page and pulled out a movie ticket stub for Suhaag “Humara movie date…”

Next she pulled out the cardboard box of Naturally Fair. Before she could open it, he asked “Isski kya jarurat hai tumhe? Naina, sirf rang se kaun pyar karta hai?” She contemplated on his word for a few moments and then replied “Waise toh mujhe nahi lagta ke koi cream use karne se kisika rang badal jata hai… par mujhe isski khushboo achi lagti hai! Aur sardiyon mein skin itna dry bhi nahi hota…”  He nodded accepting of her choice. She now opened the rectangular box and gently pulled out a dried red rose. She smiled at the memory of him standing outside her class with the bouquet of roses “Saare gulab ka gulkand nahi banaya tha maine… ek sambhalke rakha hai.” His eyes gleamed with joy.

She then pulled out a tiny makeshift newspaper packet from a very small transparent plastic bag. She opened the paper packet very carefully and said as she showed him the crimson contents “Bholenath ke mandir se thoda bandh liya tha, jab aap ne uss din khud hoke bhara tha meri mang mein.” Seeing his astonished expression, she tried to explain “Aap ko lagta hai na ke mujhe kuch samjha hi nahi… ha shayad aapki sari actions ke peeche ka reason toh samjha nahi tha… par iska matlab yeh nahi tha, ke mujhe koi farak nahi pada tha.”

Sameer pulled her in a tight embrace as soon as she repacked all the things away. He was completely in awe that she had treasured his every gesture and hoped to hold on to those memories for a very long time to come. He asked in a voice laden with emotions “Itna pyay karti hu mujhe?” She mumbled against his chest “Isse bhi bahoot jyada! Aur pata hai, aaj mera Bhagwanji aur unki planning pe ka vishwas aur bhi badh gaya…” When he looked a little lost at this last remark, she took out an envelope from her bag and handed to him “Yeh aap ke liye liya tha maine bahoot bahoot pehele… jab Swati ko naya naya pata chala tha humari shaadi ke baare mein.”

Feeling very intrigued Sameer opened it and pulled out a card. A couple sat atop a mountain watching a sunrise, the word scribbled inside reiterated her promise to him read ‘I promise to love you forever, every single day of forever’.

He eyes alternately gazed at her and the card, the depth and length of her love hitting him with full force, yet again. She excitedly announced “Dekha, dukkan mein kitne sare cards thay… par maine yahi select kiya tha! Aur aaj hum bilkul aise baithe thay, jab humne woh… woh special words kahe ek dusre se. Jarur Bhagwanji ka yahi plan tha humare liye!” She smiled “Card mein Suryoday hai… par aaj ka Suryast humare liye toh ek Suryoday jaise hi hai, nahi?”

Sameer offered a silent prayer of thanks to the maker of this universe and stood up. He placed the card and her plastic bag of treasures on the writing table close by and then returned to his wife. Suddenly without any warning he scooped her up in his arm, she startled clung to him and muttered “Yeh kya kar rahe hai aap…” He whispered huskily as he walked to one side of the bed and lowered her properly onto it “Wahi… jo ek ache pati ko apni patni se karna chahiye… pyaar…. aur sirf, pyaar…”

The crisp white and yet soft sheets, the extra thick mattress and the deep red rose petals; all welcomed them. The scent of the roses mingled with that of the exotic soap used in the shower, and then add to it the potent musk of her hot-blooded young man, the young wife whimpered as the heady mix assaulted her senses. He moaned Naina… as he kissed her satin soft cheeks, dainty chin and then nuzzled against her neck. Every dip and rise on her that had captivated him for long now, could now be freely explored. Naina clung to him, feeling dizzy with love, longing and also the instinctive knowledge that some momentous change was approaching.

Hope you enjoyed Friday dinner ☺️

Fabulous update !!!!!

So happy there s no fiasco n honeymoon....all s well and going smoothly...

'Kuch bi'...omg aise words se hamare Dil ki dhadkan tez ho jaati hai..bechaara Sameer..

Even n romantic scenario (Hilltop) he was still n dilemma but thank God remembered it on time and confessed his feelings, the 3 magical words....

Loved Naina very much when she told Sameer he is not in hostel anymore and no need eat quickly....

I loved the conversation which cleared all misunderstanding on their previous date..

Naina showing him treasure of her life was amazing scene beautifully written..

Till now White kurti was lucky for Naina but  will Pink satin ki lace wali nighty be lucky for Sameer??

Will be lost n daydream till next update..

Another amazing update...! Another Cliffhanger😄

I didn't even realise when the chapter ended. I love the way you manage to keep us hooked for the upcoming updates. I want to especially appreciate the way you use symbolism while defining every emotion they feel.

I am already in love with your version of the honeymoon. They have taken another step forward in their relationship. Looking forward to what's gonna happen next.😉😊

Lots Of Love❤
