Has Katrina really lied about her origins?

So as far as I remember, she's always said that her father was a Kashmiri Muslim whose name was Mohammed Kaif but I recently read how some journalists have called that story hogwash and that it was made up for her after she came to India. Is this true? So who's her actual father? And she doesn't have any Indian roots then?

Ayesha Shroff has explained here how they gave her a fake surname:

Ayesha shroff clearly said they gave her the surname kaif as those days Mohammad Kaif was hugely popular and that will increase relatability with the masses. They did not wanted to give her other muslim second names as they sounded a bit more religious. They had 2-3 options.

@Bold I don't really think that matters 😅everyone knows Kaif is a Muslim name. How is a Khan or Siddiqui surname more religious sounding than Kaif? 😅 Btw I've just read what Ayesha Shroff has said and I'm calling her out on her stupidity.

Its amazing what people used to get away with earlier. Literally giving a non Muslim a Muslim surname cause relatability and PR.

I just told u what Ayesha said. I do not believe in one name sounding more religious than the other. Its all hogwash. But at that time it was their rationale when they gave her the identity.

Not a new phenomena. Been happening since 1940's. Many muslim actors took on Sanskrit stage names assuming they would not be accepted otherwise. 😕😑

I know and I understand desis doing it. A lot of religious angles played out during various times in our history and the concern for acceptance was valid. But a white woman doing it to get work in the Indian society doesn't sit well with me. That's them taking advantage of a system that's been a legit problem for many.
