Not sure how many of you have watched Naamkarann, but it was my favourite show mostly because of the way Zain's character was shaped. Quick summary for anyone who doesn't know the story: Ananya Verma is introduced into the story as having ulterior motives against Dayawanti Mehta (a bigwig in the city). The audience later finds out that Ananya (aka Avni) is an illegitimate child born to Ayesha and Dayawanti's son, Ashish Mehta. Dayawanti was against his son marrying Ayesha and hence killed Avni's mother. Her father disowned her also and as a result, Avni's only motive in life is to exact her revenge from Dayawanti Mehta. Neil Khanna (Zain's character) is a righteous police officer who learns about Avni's past and supports her the entire way through. He fights for her rights and helps her ultimately get justice. What I loved most was that Neil ALWAYS stood by Avni, even if it meant going against his entire family.

I can't help but make comparisons between Kabir and Neil and it leaves me disappointed everytime. I know Kabir can't be blamed for what has happened. I also understand Kabir's wanting to put the past behind him and begin again on a fresh note. But what I don't understand is that after the big revelation about PK's past and what he did, Kabir didn't have even one conversation with his family. He asked no questions about why the Sr. Mittals did what they did. Any logical person in such a situation, knowing they live amongst family members who have indirectly killed thousands of people, would demand to know why they did it and how they could have brought themselves to do such a thing. But no. All Kabir has been is utterly sweet and kind to his family. As a son, he is performing his duties perfectly...taking care of his family, making sure they have a roof over their heads, finding work, etc. But as a human being? I think Kabir falls short..at least in my eyes.

As an army man who has fought day in and day out to save thousands of lives...I expected more of a reaction to the fact that his own family has been responsible for taking thousands and thousands of lives.

As for the precap...I have my own questions about that. Kabir says to Pooja that he will essentially defame her in public. Firstly, defame her for what? Anything and everything she has done has been restricted to only the Mittal family. And even everything she said in the press conference against the Mittals has been perfectly justified and true. So what can Kabir defame her for? It's not like he can call a press conference and accuse her for..well..anything....This tashan game they are playing is not headed anywhere. What I would have loved to see is Pooja trying endlessly to get a reaction out of Kabir, Kabir remaining headstrong and not falling in his cycle of hatred and revenge, and ultimately Pooja giving up and possibly even respecting Kabir.

I thought the exact same. But people wanted tashan. So we'll have that after that forgiveness and after that falling for each other.

Not happy with the revamp as they're showing Pooja Sharma as unhappy. And Kabir is being too good, its hurting my eyes to see Hum Saath Saath Hain type smiles.

Looks so out of the picture and forced.

Pooja is suddenly turning a female version of a gloating, stupid PK. And is being taylormade for Kabir to come and bite her back.

@Bold I guess they wanted to show us that after her revenge was done, there is that emptiness that settled down inside her, her purpose so far was to avenge her father but now that she completed it, she is still the same emotionally damaged kid especially with Ishaani turning her back on her. We can pretend as much as we want that we need no other but we would still crave love, family, that warmth that is felt when you are loving others and they are loving you. Pooja needs a lot of love and understanding to heal. For now I feel that her tashan with Kabir might for some time fill that emptiness inside her, I hope it also helps her, it doesn't need to be tashan in a negative way, it can be a tashan that would allow her to re-discover herself again, that she has more to her than this revenge, that others have more to them than dokha and fareeb and that there can be good people out there even if she disovers it through the son of her enemy

@Red I also feel that they should show it in a realistic way, I know Kabir is the lead but they can also show other junior Mittals trying to do something, we also need to see each person's perspective about the happenings, I honestly liked when they showed Dhruv broken, it made sense after his heartbreak, of course he is bound to have those flashbacks. We need to see more of other characters' thoughts , they can't brush it all away as if nothing happened, senior Mittals should ponder over the past and their contribution to it and where it led them to and Kabir also despite showing that strong side to keep the family together should also be given some inner monologues of what he really thinks about what is happening and about how he intends to deal with the new challenges in life, it would be great honestly if he also thinks even for a bit from Pooja's angle. I know he might have a lot on his plate to deal with, but I honestly like to be shown the depth of characters, when they are alone at night, what all they think about, especially in such difficult times.....

I can say one proverb related to this show. "

"If the first step is crooked, the end result is gonna be crooked."

The makers got two good looking leads in this show. If they used these actors in a good story, this show might get good rate from the beginning week. But they didn't understand the viewers taste. The makers should have tried to make the show according to the viewers taste. Not their own taste. Shrenu's previous show DBO was shut down due to the poor script. The same history is continued in her present show too.

In my view , Shrenu has also failed to think correctly about the show success. Aastha character in #EBP also got the chances to show her acting skills. Just imagine , if she had paired with Varad and Shlok with Sojal , could that show get the success.?. This show makers did the wrong calculation at the very beginning stage and it is continuing in the revamp too.

Sanjana...Naamkarann started 6 months before Neil’s character was introduced...the show started with little Avni,.so we viewers witnessed the atrocities that her grandmother bestowed upon little Avni and her mother...we saw Dayawanti kill avnis mother..we saw Dayawanti shoot Avni..lock her up in the dark room, etc..so we formed an attachment to Avni and little Avni won everyone’s hearts ..Neil and big Avni ( ananya) came after the 15 years leap. But the setting had already been set for big Avni to get her revenge. Here in EBSS we didn’t see enough of little Pooja to form that big attachment to her like we did to Avni and that’s why viewers are divided ..some feel her revenge is completely justified and others feel she has been too harsh on innocent people..like kavya, Kabir etc. tbh ...since the main plot of this show was jaanvis revenge...they should have started the story with little Pooja..we should have seen the atrocities pk Mittal bestowed upon her family...we should have seen her suffering ..and we should have formed an attachment for little Pooja so we could have understood her thirst for revenge Better..because at the moment I don’t really feel an attachment to jaanvi,. I actually got irritated by her behaviour where she shredded kabirs certificates and the dialogue about the food and beggars was really too much. Her enemy was pk Mittal..but he’s dead now and she has got everything..but she’s still rude to the point of cruel with Kabir..and that’s actually inhumane..she seems to have lost her humanity when dealing with Kabir and that scene of driving and splashing mud on him..sorry I didn’t like that..in her thirst for revenge shes actually become cruel. Durga And Avni both took revenge in ek hasina thi And in Naamkarann..but we loved their characters and cried with them..and they were still kind decent women..they showed, kindness to everyone else...they only hurt their enemies..But at the moment Pooja is coming across as an unlikeable person ..maybe they might change her later ..to show her softer and kinder..but at the moment she’s not nice. and back to Kabir,.well he’s not Neil..Neil was too perfect ..he was a strong caring man, a fantastic police officer and ultra romantic lover..but remember he had a different upbringing,.he had wonderful Prakash as a dad...and a warm happy family..whereas here Kabir had that obnoxious pk Mittal as a father..And the Mittals overall ..are not well adjusted people like the Khannas..So Kabir is not as perfect as our Neil..

Neil is one of my fave characters on TV, and will always be, but Kabir is up there too. Neil had a lot of questionable moments where his hypocrisy could be seen - the most significant one being willing to cheat Riya into fake marrying him (even though he felt bad about it) but accusing Avni of making a mockery out of marriages. Anyway, I won’t compare the two characters because the premises of the shows are different and so are the situations. Naamkarann (post leap) didn’t have to face TRP issues in the first three months so the writers had more freedom to properly develop the characters. Once the TRP started to drop, the channel started to meddle and the writers went off the rails. EBSS is under that pressure now, so a lot of things have to be rushed.

What I didn’t like about Kabir was him twisting Pooja’s hand, because that was uncharacteristic of him. He isn’t one who would resort to using force - he would rather take someone down with his wit, and I suspect that’s what’s going to happen in the upcoming episodes.

As for him not questioning his family, I don’t think it’s the right time to be honest. He has a lot on his plate as it is - dealing with his dad (before and after he died), finding a house, finding a job, etc. I don’t think any sane person would have the time or energy to question his family at this point BUT I hope they show him questioning them in the future - especially since he would be working closely with Pooja. He would see a side to her that the rest of the family hasn’t as yet. They have seen her as the SSG bahu and then the “dhokebaaz” who took everything away from them.

Kabir is angry right now - and it makes sense because Pooja is needlessly antagonizing him. He “represents” the Mittals and punishing him is the same as punishing the Mittals (according to Pooja, right now) but there is only so much Kabir can take before lashing out. Because of the TRP pressure, this has been cut short. But eventually, amidst the tashan, he would realise what Pooja is going through (or so I hope). Hopefully he would realise that moving on might be an option for him, but it’s not that easy for Pooja and that might trigger him to go question his family. At the very least, just like how he asked his dad to surrender, I hope he gets the family to apologize to Pooja. Right now, the Mittals are too busy blaming Pooja and there’s no acknowledgment of their mistakes. Hopefully Kabir would change that.

@Bold: I really do hope that this happens...I would love it if it did...but knowing creatives, I feel like for a while now they will only focus on Pooja and Kabir's fights at work...I hope the writers don't forget to show such a conversation between Kabir and his family.

I agree with what you're saying! I'm definitely not saying what Pooja is doing is right! It's definitely not justified of her to mistreat ALL the Mittals just because some of them were at fault. But I DO understand her anger and frustration entirely. She's frustrated mostly because even after having killed PK Mittal and getting his house, she's still not able to be happy. And so she's trying to make all the mittals as miserable as she can as well!

I'm not saying Kabir should just sympathize with everything she's doing. No, not at all! But I'm saying that he should definitely talk to his family about what they had done and their past. He can't just ignore it and pretend it never happened and move on. If he's getting angry at Pooja, he should be equally as angry at his family. Or, if he really wants to forgive and forget (which I really hope is not the case since what the Mittals have done is unforgivable in my opinion), then his anger should not only be directed towards Pooja. But you're right, no one can be as perfect as our Neil Khanna <3 Kya karein, he set the bar really high for male leads in all of ITV with the character of Neil <3
