Antara was smart and I think AJ knew some what. He even said it that she can be difficult. I think he ignored any of the signs and she did an incredible job putting in on a innocent face. I can believe she duped him.

I don't think the younger AJ was this mature or shrewd. He hardened over the years, but his younger self could have been easily fooled.
