I think Deepika agreed to come onboard only after the production deal (most probably a profit cut with no unfront remuneration) went through too. She was always onboard for the part already or in serious contention since Ranveer never denied it. Just a bit curious about why Katrina pitched in hints about it too. Maybe if the production thing didn't go through, she would have lobbied and got it.
