I agree with you...they haven’t shown Nani yet in any flashbacks either. So maybe Nanu brought up both kids by himself and so they are the way they are...one that takes too many responsibilities and is a control freak because she was brought up to take home and business responsibilities early in life and the other, incompetent because of his overprotective elder sister. And Nanu is possibly out of guilt making up for his upbringing of the kids but showering love on his grandkids

I love how they have constructed the Rajvansh family members. That's a lot of mystery to them. It just adds to the endless possibilities of taking the plot further in different ways. The aura of mystery is kind of amazing.
