the film might be a flop overall but surprisingly shall do well in India, I went to watch it yesterday and to my surprise and shock, it was housefull, the gentry was full of gawaar and illiterate people wondering why they have come to watch a film which doesn't belong to neither their taste or mood.

Then I realized that people r thinking this film as of another Avengers Part 2 which may really help the movie. otherwise i don't think it would have survived for more than a week. But I liked it overall, not a great conclusion to the franchise but still a decent watch

🤣BOLD cracked me up !

coming to the topic, i want to watch this film as i have been a huge X-men love since the first movie came out (and i am also one of the very few who is neither obsessed nor crazy about Wolverine as other people are...But LOGAN was a legendary movie) but the reviews for Dp are so negative, they just hold me back but anyway since its the conclusion of the saga, I'll definitely give a shot..i might end up enjoying it !

I'm far more interested in how you learned this facet.

The last good X Men movie was Days of Future Past for me. Hopefully the reboot under Marvel will give us a film truly worthy of its brand.

saw it on friday, I kinda liked it,

people are being too overcritical : Its definitely not that bad, I personally thought even X-Men Last Stand wasn't bad either.

Go watch it yourself first and then judge.

It is not doing well if we compare it to MCU movies or other big Hollywood franchise but this film went through a lot of negativity so I am not surprised. MCU can chrun out crap like age of ultron and a mediocre film like black Panther can get an Oscar nomination and their fans shit on xmen movies without regarding the fact that 8 out 12 xmen movies were great and better than half of mcu.

I feel bad for James, fassy, nick and evan. They deserve so much better😔

I forgot to mention that I went for the 3d part dubbed in hindi because my nearby theater is playing only 1 show in English and that too at 1:20 pm which I couldn't have made due to personal or work reasons so..

i went to the theatre 20 mins before the 3:20 pm show (3d hindi dubbed) and asked for a ticket, i asked for a corner seat as I found it comfortable the dude at the ticket counter told me that i can sit anywhere as there's not much public..urmm ok.. i got the ticket..it was priced around Rs 250 and its a Star World Cinema Chain multiplex - and audi 3 was the destination.

to my surprise, when I entered the hall it was 80 % full and what's shocking was the gentry inside the theater. Now I'm not really that naive that i can't differentiate between illiterate n cultured people. they were hounding, shouting, hooting, dancing even before the movie started, their attire was enough that it's a holiday time for a series of jobless men. I don't have any problem, we all go to movies until and unless they don't spoil the experience, this was a multiplex after all, and this audience belonged to single screens and i was like what? they all paid rs 250 to watch this..by the film started, the house was full and the experience was just bad,

At every dialogue spoken by a character, there came a voice to mock each and every dialogue, imagine sitting through this mess? I had to change my seat thrice and complained to the officials about the ugly behavior of this notorious audience that has nothing to do with a movie like this. they nearly spoiled 1 hour of the movie, I couldn't even watch how Jean hurts Quicksilver in the fight as I kept changing my seat. The explanation i got from the officials after the show was over was that the AVENGERS ENDGAME was a huge huge success, (i skipped it in theatres so i didn't know) and they told it drew all types of audiences into the theaters.

The audience thought of X-men dark phoenix of another avengers which is why they'r coming in bulk, but it won't last long like the avengers did. they felt sorry for the experience when I returned the 3d glasses. I told them that I'll come back again to watch it again, urrmm..It's obvious I said it to please them.

but overall film's OK.. but yeah make sure your experience in the theater is pleasant only then u shall be able to enjoy the film more

Thanks for this vivid retelling of your experience. Very relatable.

TL;DR: It is the cinema's responsibility that the experience of the patrons is not ruined because of some degenerates.

I had a similar debacle too during my show of 'A Quiet Place' which was basically a silent-horror movie with emphasis on background sound. There was this couple sitting near me who were a bit into each other (making kissing sounds and laughing like jackasses) which irked the hell out of me as it was really distracting. The film's sound design only amplified their buffoonery.

I didn't change the seat as I'd paid for an electric recliner which is costly AF. I brought the issue to a cinema staff member to no avail. After suffering the said couple for ten minutes, I tiptoed and stopped right in front of them and requested them to STFU (I was polite 👍🏼) by going into the details of how they were spoiling everything for me.

So basically, I missed twenty minutes of the movie while suffering and schooling these adult children.

Clearly, I was infuriated. I stormed into the manager's officer after the show and demanded a refund stating the staff's poor grievance redressal as a cause. The manager instead booked a ticket on the house for the next show and this time I was thankfully alone.

^wow you did manage to watch the movie again, that's commendable because honestly given the behaviour I would have felt traumatic and not watch it again, may be because of the fear of getting it even worse than before. As much as I may sound boring but I would prefer watching a film within a limited audience than with a housefull one..definitely not!

and the reason I laughed over @NeverGiVeF's post that it's quite relatable as I have been to such situations so many times that my visits to cinemas have been reduced from the past few years. As much as I laughed, It also feels a bit scary too.. the experience should be good while watching a film otherwise what r we talking abt?
