A new case comes to ETF and a lady officer is needed for it

Riya and Sameer fight once again.

Inn dono ke beech ki problems toh ab personal lagne lagi hain. Mere dimaag mein na jaane kitni possibilities aa rahi hain

Riya manages to complete the mission but gets injured in the process.

Arjun aids her but she wants to hide her injuries from Sameer.

Part 6

Riya(firmly): I have her!........................................

Within 2 minutes all the boys rounded up in front of her. Rathore looked at Mona in disbelief. He stared at Riya and then again at her.

Riya smirked: I hope aapne mera demotion ka letter likh nahi liya, kya haina? Deforestation bahot bad gaya hai, paper waste nahi karna chahiye

Rathore snapped out of his trance: huh? Uh….(avoiding looking at her) Shree, local police ko bulao! Sab ko round up karo! Aur lady constable se kaho ki ise lekar ETF aaye. Chotu, saari formalities khatam karo

Arjun: police ko handover karke ghar jao, it’s late

Rathore: ha, let’s go

He was still in a state of shock. He didn’t even notice that Arjun’s jacket had gone on Riya and left.

Arjun on the other hand wanted to finish this nonsense, he had to take Riya to the hospital before her situation worsened.

Arjun: tum dono handle kar loge?

Chotu: ha sir

Arjun: tumne taxi book ki?

Riya nodded: ha woh…aa jaani chahiye

Arjun :theek hai

Shree(confused): are Riya ye jacket? (glancing at Arjun) ye toh sir aapka…haina?

Riya: criminals ko thapad maar sakti hu Shree thand ko nahi

Shree laughed: waise party chahiye hume

Riya :ha kyun nahi? kal milegi

Chotu: yay!!!

Riya smiled. She and Arjun left the premises of the club. Riya heaved a sigh of relief, leaning again. Arjun looked at her. Her face had turned pale. She teared up in pain. Arjun silently supported to get into the car. Jumping into the passenger seat, he drove at full speed to the hospital.

Emergency room-

Arjun was waiting in the doctor’s cabin. She and Riya were on the other side of the screen where she was stitching her up. Riya screamed in agony. It was getting harder for Arjun to fight the urge to peep and see if she was alright. She was whimpering and yelping. A fifth loud scream and his limits went out the window.He charged around the screen keeping his gaze away from her exposed body at the injury.

Arjun: Doctor! Aap Use Treat Kar Rahi Hai Ya Uska Dard Badha Rahi Hai?!

The ladies jumped at his voice.

Doctor: aap yaha kya kar rahe hai? us taraf jayiye! Mujhe mera kaam aata hai

Arjun glared at her: acha? Toh zara mujhe ya batayenge ki aap bina anaesthesia lagaye stitches kyun de rahi hai?

Doctor: dekhiye inka ghaav itna bada nahi hai ki anaesthesia dena pade aur sedative ye lena nahi chahti toh hum kya kare?

Arjun glared at Riya now: Riya!

Riya(innocently):sir mujhe sedatives par bharosa nahi hai

Arjun(confused):what?

Riya: mujhe behosh nahi hona, agar in logon ne kidney nikal di toh?

The doctor was scandalized: kya bakwas hai ye! Ye ek reputed hospital hai!

Riya: police records nikal kar dekhiye, jiska naam jitna acha hota hai uska kaam utna hi Ghatiya hota hai

Doctor(angrily): dekhiye aap is tarah…

Arjun took a deep breath: okay fine!!! Doc koi mild sedative hai jisse woh behosh nahi hogi aur uska dard bhi kam hoga?

Doctor(composing): ha lekin, ho sakta unhe Nasha jaise chad jaaye thoda

Riya: No! No! No! No Nasha! Mujhe ghar jaana hai…..(realising Arjun was there) are nahi aap haina, chalega

Arjun: main hu matlab?

Riya: nahi aap mera rape and murder nahi karenge na

Arjun felt like banging his head on a wall.

Arjun: Doctor, For God’s Sake! Aap Ise Sedative Dijiye!!

She nodded and he left to the other side muttering to himself. The doctor injected her and quickly patched her up. Arjun was relieved to hear her screaming stop.The girl was bonkers! She stopped thinking about rape and murder just because it was him. Nevertheless, it warmed his heart. Her trust made him feel good about himself, mv “bevkuf ladki!” He shook his head and waited for the doctor to bring her out.

Doctor:blood loss ki wajah se thodi weakness hai, but ghabraane ki koi baat nahi hai

Arjun thanked her and left with Riya. They reached her house soon owing to the late hour and lack of traffic. By the time he pulled into her driveway, Riya had fallen asleep.

Arjun: Riya tumhara ghar aa gaya (she didn’t wake up) Riya?....Riya!

He raised his hand but then hesitated a little. He softly nudged her shoulder. Riya lazily opened her eyes.

Arjun: ghar aa gaya Riya

Riya blinked rapidly trying to make sense of her surroundings. Recognizing her house, she turned to him.

Riya: thank you!

She unlocked the door and got out. The sedative starts playing with her senses. The house in front of her suddenly blurred. She stumbled and tripped. Riya squealed in full anticipation of hitting the ground. Instead she landed into a pair of arms….well, his arms to be more precise.

She smiled lightly, thinking he would support her but he didn’t. He picked her up in his arms shocking her and himself. Her eyes held a million questions. He looked away, unaware of the answers….yet. He took her inside and gently laid her on the bed.

Riya(groggily): Arjun sir

Arjun: bolo

Riya: aap na bhale khadoos raho lekin kabhi apne rakshas dost ke jaise mat banna

Arjun(amused) :ok?

Her eyelids turned heavy. He pulled the quilt over her. She turned to the other side. Arjun immediately stopped her.

Arjun: Riya is taraf mudo, chot lagi hai us taraf, sedative ka asar kam hote hi dard shuru ho jaayega!

Riya murmured something he couldn’t quite comprehend. He carefully turned her to his side and Riya hugged his hand in sleep. Taken aback, he tried to take it away.She became disturbed and demanded her so called pillow back to herself. Arjun sighed. It was impossible to take his hand away without waking her up now.

He looked at his watch. It was well past midnight. He was wondering what to do when his gaze fell on her face. A certain serenity radiated from her. He smiled and decided to settle there for the night. It wasn’t as if he wanted to go home either. He’d prefer her company any day.

Arjun mv “tum sach mein bahot bahadur ho Riya bas bahaduri aur bevkufi ki line cross karti rehti ho (her words at the hospital played in his mind again and smiled) I trust you too!”

Next morning-

Sunrays entered through the window falling straight on Riya’s eyes. She stretched and yawned waking up Arjun with her movements. He rubbed his eyes. Riya still hadn’t opened her eyes.

Arjun: good morning

She sat up with a start.

Riya: OUCH!!

Arjun(comforting her): are dheere!

Riya :aap…aap? Aap gaye nahi?

Arjun :agar tum jaane deti toh zaroor jaata

Riya(confused): matlab?

Arjun: somehow tumne apne 6 pillows ko choose kiye bagair, mere haath ko choose kar liya

Riya groaned: oh god! I’m so sorry! But…aapko utha dena chahiye tha (lowering her eyes) is tarah saari raat…

Arjun: it’s ok (muttering) waise bhi ghar par kaun intezaar kar raha hai?

Her eyes shot open at the statement but thinking it was personal, she didn’t ask him anything.

Arjun looked back at her: anyway, tum aaram karo main Rathore se keh dunga ki tumhe viral hai (Riya was about to protest) chup-chap do din ghar par baithi rehna warna sabko bata dunga ki Mona ne tumhe chot pahunchayi hai! samjhi ya samjhau?

Riya shut up: samaj gayi

Arjun: ab kaisa lag raha hai?

Riya: thoda dard hai but kal se behtar hai….ek baat puchu?

Arjun: pucho

Riya: aapke jaise insaan ko Rathore sir ke andar aisa kya dikh gaya dost banane ke liye?

Arjun raised his eyebrow: meri tareef kar rahi ho ya fir use gaali de rahi ho?

Riya: wahi toh keh rahi hu, aap tareef ke kaabil hai aur woh gaali ke

Arjun:woh bura insaan nahi hai Riya, uski parwarish aise mahol main hui hai and ye baat fact hai, tum chahe jitni bhi koshish kar lo humari society ke vichaar kuch khaas alag nahi hai but I don’t know use tumse itni problem kyun hai? woh tumhare ilawa aur kisi se aise behave nahi karta

Riya rolled her eyes: ha woh Shree Chotu ne mujhe pehle hi bataya tha (gazing at the floor) pata nahi kaunse coupon code ka reward hai?

Arjun observed her. Her shoulders were droopy and eyes had lost the twinkle he was accustomed to see. He squeezed her palm reassuringly.

Arjun :Riya, tum ek bahot achi officer ho

Riya(sadly): lekin kab tak ladu sir? kab tak unke saamne khud ko kaabil saabit karti rahu?

Arjun: tumhe kisi ko kuch saabit karne ki zaroorat nahi hai Riya. You deserve to be in ETF as much as any of us do. Agar use samajna hoga toh aaj nahi toh kal apne-aap samaj jaayega. Tumhe kisi aur ke judgement se hataash hone ki zaroorat nahi hai…just believe in yourself as you do now bas

Riya: bas kya?

Arjun smiled: bas itna nahi ki tum use maar daalo aur itna toh bilcul bhi nahi ki tum khud ko maar daalo

She chuckled: khud ki guarantee toh de sakti hu, lekin unki nahi

Arjun(sternly): Riya

Riya laughed: sorry

He shook his head in disbelief. Arjun took his leave soon after. He thought of going straight to office but then needing a change of clothes, he decided to go home first. The family was at the breakfast table when he entered.

Shweta: Arjun tum raat bhar ghar nahi aaye?

Roshni: maine tumhare phone bhi kayi baar try kiya par tumne uthaya nahi

Arjun mv “bloody liar!” : so sorry Roshni mujhe sapna nahi aaya ki ghar mein aag lag gayi hai

Suryakant: Arjun ye kya tareeka hai baat karne ka?

Ignoring his reprimand he walked upstairs: oh please spare the damn moral lecture!

Shweta snapped: Arjun behave!

Arjun took a deep breath to control himself from saying anything rude to her: soya nahi hu raat bhar itni toh daya kijiye!

He banged the door shut and headed into the washroom.

Flashback Ends

Arjun clearly remembered. A million thoughts had ran in his head as he showered that day. He wanted to do something for her. Something to return twinkle her eyes...and he wanted that twinkle because of him. But why?

It was at that moment, he realised that he had started to feel something for her beyond the relation of a good and concerned boss. It was much more personal and growing at an incredible rate….the feeling that he had never felt before….the feeling that they called, Love.

Arjun(turning): Riya?

Riya: ha?

Arjun :thanks

Riya :kis liye?

Arjun: mujhe office se nikaal ne ke liye, honestly, main maa ke saamne control kho deta

Riya smiled: isi liye toh nikala warna khud sabko sunati (Arjun shifted their entwined hands and frowned) kya hua?

Arjun :hug karna hai yaar…tum itni door ho

Riya giggled: ghar jaakar kare? Warna accident ho jaayega

Arjun made a face: aur koi option hai kya?

Riya shook her head in amusement, glad that he was reverting to normal. She had always believed that there was more to him than what met the eye. After knowing about his daughter’s accident, she realised it was because he didn’t want to get attached to anyone to only lose them later. Nevertheless, despite the mask of indifference he always reached out to anyone in need including her.

Flashback

Riya resumed office two days after capturing Mona.

Chotu: dhokebaaz!

Riya: kya hua?

Chotu: tune bola tha party karenge, do din akele party karke baith gayi?

Riya laughed: are Chotu, hum aaj kar lenge promise!

Chotu squinted: pakka promise?

Riya: ha baba, pakka promise

Chotu hugged her: tu bahot achi hai

Riya: woh toh main hu

Rathore entered the room: ye office hai

The two of them separated hearing his voice.

Rathore: waise chutti lene ki koi khaas wajah miss Mukherjee?

Riya :ha sir aapki tabiyat

Rathore(confused):what?

Riya: ab maine socha ki Mona ko dekhkar toh waise bhi aapko dil ka dohra pad gaya hai toh agar mujhe bhi dekhenge toh kahi (looking into the heavens) Arjun sir ko Chief ki post na mil jaaye

Rathor eglared at her: agar tumhari badtameezi khatam ho gayi ho toh kaam kar logi?

Riya: main kaam karne ke liye hi aati hu sir, kuch logon ki tarah apne juniors par rob jamane nahi

Rathor ewas about to burst on her when as usual Arjun arrived to save her.

Arjun: Riya! Mona ki report mein apna statement add karo…abhi!

Riya: ji sir

Arjun left the room with Riya following him and Rathore’s daggers following Riya.

Arjun’s cabin-

Arjun :chot kaisi hai ab tumhari?

Riya :pehle se kaafi behtar hai, par sir, maine aapko mera statement mail kar diya tha, aapne reply bhi kiya tha ki aapko mil gaya hai, kuch gadbad hai?

Arjun :nahi! woh sab ho gaya hai, mujhe tumse baat karni thi

Riya(taken aback): oh….kis baare mein?

Arjun wordlessly handed her an envelope.

Riya: isme kya hai sir?

Arjun: khol kar dekho

Riya broke open the seal and removed the letter. Riya read aloud.

Riya :this is to inform you that the department of research shall henceforth be reporting to ACP Arjun Suryakant Rawte with effect…(she looked up confused)iska matlab hai ki research department Rathore sir ke under nahi aapke under aayega

Arjun: ha

Riya(still confused): ok…ay….(unsure) um, congratulations?

Arjun rolled his eyes: Riya tum research department ki head ho!

Riya: ha toh?

Arjun sighed exasperation: toh ye ki tumhari saari zimmedari ab se meri hogi! Tumhe na Rathore ko report karna hai na hi uske orders tum par chalenge unless and until I’m missing in action or dead ya fir koi emergency ho

Riya jumped up in happiness: REALLY?!!?

Arjun: ha

Riya: Iska Matlab Ab Mujhe Field Par Jaane Ke Liye Unse Jhagde Nahi Karne Padenge?

Arjun :nahi

Riya :Matlab Main Bina Unki Special Permission Ke Case Par Work Kar Sakti Hu?

Arjun: ha baba

Riya: Kaise Hua Ye Sab? Aur Kab?

Arjun: well, ye is umeed mein hua hai ki tum firse apni on field injuries chupa kar bina matlab ke apni jaan khatre mein nahi daalogi

Riya(shocked): ye aapne kiya? order apne aap nahi aaya?

Arjun :nahi

Riya felt her heart explode: seriously? Aapne mere liye... (tearing up) thank you! I lo….(her syllables struck both of them like lightening, she quickly corrected herself) I’ll owe you for this

Arjun smiled: come on Riya, itni bhi koi badi baat nahi aur waise bhi agar mera itna karne Department ki ek honhaar officer ki suicidal tendencies kam hoti hai toh I’m pretty sure it’s worth it

Riya laughed: aap na sach mein bahot ache hai

Arjun: ab butter lagana band karo aur jaa kar kaam par lago, chutti khatam ho gayi hai

Riya mocked a salute: yes sir!
