I am actually really upset and saddened by this whole Hina Khan - Cannes incident. This is the first moment I’ve had to really think about what happened.
She clearly was so excited about this opportunity. And this stupid man has now destroyed her whole experience and her memory of this event that she worked her entire life words will always be marred by this nonsense. How sad!
I haven’t seen many interviews of Hina and didn’t know she was from a humble background. But I’ve heard Pooja and Erica describe their childhood and journey to where they are now. Pooja talks about her coaches having to give her free swimming lessons and buy her food because her parents couldn’t afford it. Erica had to start working at 16 to help her family after her father’s stroke. I am sure other TV and Film actresses also have similar stories. What sets them apart is their grit and the fact that they have got where did on hard work and hard work alone. They do not have mentors or rich father or uncles in the industry or come from safe upper class backgrounds with father who are famous badminton players or business men. They may have had family support but they climbed each rung of the ladder on their own.
And some dumb ass editor gets to basically sit in an armchair and say oh you outsider you don’t belong here. How dare he! Shame on him!
I love the insta story of Hina in which she doesn’t bash him but says she will keep working hard and signs off from her Chandivali Studio. Well played Hina! You have risen in my estimation 10 fold!
