The PROBLEM(s) with this show!

Namaste all! 🙏

I know most of us are unhappy with the way the show is shaping up, so I thought of articulating some problems I see with the storyline.

1. Too much screen space for Meenakshi: This is the MAIN problem to me. Meenakshi's character and her schemes take up 80% of the show's run time. Why this is a problem is because every storyline has to include Big Ben's take on it. She is omniscient, omnipresent and omni-annoying. When half the episode involves Parul running to her to report violations of Meenakshi's parampara, anushasan and pratishtha, it leaves little space for other characters and their POVs. Meenakshi appears for longer than even the leads- Mishti and Abir 😆She is the villain who creates obstacles for other characters, but her character is not fun to watch beyond a point. The writers need to severely scale back on the importance given to her. There are so many talented actors on this show and I would like to see their storylines, including Kaushal-Nidhi, Parul etc instead of them just worshipping their Ben Baa all the time. 🙄

2. Rishta Exchange: I feel this is a weak storyline because they are using Kunal-Mishti's rishta to make all 4 realise that they like other people, but Kunal-Mishti being future devar-bhabhi 😳 drastically reduces the scope of utilising their dynamic to make Kuhu and Abir jealous or whatever their plan is. The CVs know they cannot cross certain lines as Kunal will eventually be Mishti's BIL and obviously, most people (including me) are weirded out by this saiyyan to bhaiyya and bhaiyya to saiyyan dynamic. 👎🏼

3. Pace of the storyline: Way too slow. Usually shows have 1-2 filler episodes per week but here every episode is a filler episode where the story does not move an inch. There is nothing new in the episodes and the scenes dished out are mostly half-baked without being meaty. Seems like the show is right now not making an impact on the two traditional consumers of Indian TV- neither the TRP junta who run the show nor the romance addicts who make up a show's stan army. Rajan Shahi has managed to capture the imagination of both with YRKKH and Ekta with Kumkum Bhagya/Kundali Bhagya/Naagin/Yeh Hai Mohabbatein...err..her list never ends.

The show is not entertaining atm from both POVs. In their bid to get ratings, they're probably focusing on Meenakshi vs Mishti/Kuhu aka tradition vs modernity but it's not working for me. 🤷‍♀️ What I want may not be what the TRP junta wants, so this is strictly my take on what I want the show to improve on.

What do you all feel? Please feel free to chime in with your opinions.

Good post dr😳.

Yeah i think too much space too meenu also but i will really like to se abir n mishti’s romantic scene even though it’s will be weird but still na they are the main leads. I really think now they are making the show modern vs traditional meenu vs sister. Yes totally agree with you the show is so slow thay are not moving the story line still in the same place.

Whole week itself filler week not any thing to reveal or something like that. They are not show any kind if improvement in cross connections also.

Hope they do bring some differences otherwise it will be boring to watch the show.

Yeah, I also want more KuKu and MishBir scenes+development in the story, but nothing of that sort is happening. 🥱

IDK what the concept of the show is. As per the initial promos, it was about Mishti not being able to reconcile with the idea of marrying someone she does not know and her reservations regarding it (at least to me). It was about today's generation and their fears about arranged marriage. But this seems to be a repeat of Rhea's last show- Tu Sooraj Main Sanjh Piyaji i.e. tradition vs modernity. 🤓 Old wine in a new bottle.

If they have decided to go ahead with Rishta Exchange, at least focus on KuKu and MishBir's equations and them realising who is actually right for them.

As I have stated in another thread the show is boring.

Adding to all your points I don’t like the mishbir chemistry or the lack of it.

Since this was Shaheers show decided to watch. Even his characterization has been choppy!

Yes i also want them to focus on that. But just don’t why this job n mishti think the letter sent by abir is from.

May be Cv’s are thinking that if the show mishti thinking abir’s doin as kunal. We will interested in watching. Seriously it annoying n it’s doesn’t make to watch the show.

Yeah really what the concept of the show. The first promo i saw was abir n mishti in red colour costumes.

I think you are on the nose with your critique here. The thing I see with this show is that they are confused between being a TRP-puller and having deeper characterisation and a proper plot. On the one hand, they want to introduce all these complex plot elements like the rishta confusion, but on the other don't really want to spend time on characterisation, which makes all of these plot elements seem contrived and meaningless.

The safe, predictable and dependable-TRP-pulling plot we all suspected when the show started, and in the first few weeks, was that Kunal and Kuhu's rishta would be fixed in the good old fashioned way, but because bade-papa and Meenu wanted their older kids married first/on the same mandap, Mishti and Abir would be pressured to marry each other as well. Then Mishti would be torn between supporting her sister and wanting to know her potential partner before she decided to marry him. I still think that this would have been the smart way to do it. Is it cliched? Sure, but people love cliches (yours truly included!) if they are well-executed -- this is pretty much how the parent show has been so successful. That would have also kept the mystery and curiosity around Big Ben alive for when Mishti and Kuhu became her bahus -- by making her outwardly evil so early on, they have sacrificed months and months of potential drama and curiosity.

I could see this rishta drama working if it were in a finite format, but that is very far from the case here. The wait to see Misthi and Abir together seems interminable (knowing that they are the leads from the intro) and that will inevitably drive viewers away. In the end, they are neither catering to "mass" nor "class" audience, and have made a huge mess of what could have been a really sweet, fun, and relatively low-effort/high-return show. All is not lost, and they have a pretty great cast so they can turn this thing around if they act fast.

I think the makers prefer Meenakshi Parul ke ye rishte hain pyaar ke over Abeer Mishti and thats the main problem 😂😂

I too think same points, serial is centralized around Big Ben planning/plotting and very slow pace with weak or no story.
