mental hai kya

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has been making a lot of headlines lately. Although she and her sister Rangoli Chandel have been targeting Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor lately, Kangana has now landed in trouble herself.

As per PTI, the Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS) has written a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), claiming that the posters of Kangana Ranautand Rajkummar Rao-starrer Mental Hai Kya show mental illness in poor light. Hence, the organisation has demanded a title change for the Ekta Kapoor backed project.

The letter, which has been addressed to CFBC Chief Prasoon Joshi, read as, "We take serious objections to the title of the movie which is discriminative, stigmatising, degrading and inhuman in projecting mental disorders and persons who suffer from mental disorders." further adding, "We strongly demand the title to be removed with immediate effect preventing further damage to the modesty of mental health service users."

Not just that, the organisation is also worried about the content of the film and stated, "The Central Board of Film Certification being a quasi-judiciary body makes it more legally bounded to set an example to the citizens and be guardian of rich Indian heritage and culture. We also demand to censor any sequence that is violating the rights of persons with mental disorder. We presume this letter as a legal warning to any such events, currently or in future, subjective that comes under the purview of CBFC."Both Rajkummar and Kangana or Ekta have not yet responded to the complaints.

Even talking about hook ups are common. But didn't Rahul and Hardika pay the price for it? It is diff. using them in day to day conversations and going public which is sensationalizing and mainstreaming it.

Sanity is overrated-that line may be seen as problematic.

I am sure it can be fixed.

if IPS has an objection,I am sure a committee will be set up to look into the matter.

It's not as common as the phrase under scanner though. People of all age groups use it in conversations.
Also, the title might be apt as per the storyline. One cannot make a judgement without watching the movie.
