Kalank Has Highest Opening Day Of 2019

Kalank has recorded the best opening day of 2019 with collections set to be around 21-22 crore nett. It is also the highest opening day ever for a Varun Dhawan or Alia Bhatt starrer beating Judwaa 2 (will be ahead of Dilwale also) and Gully Boy.

Kesari had the highest opening day of 2019 with 20.40 crore and the collections of most circuits look a little higher for Kalank barring East Punjab and Mumbai (Holi pushed the collections of Kesari here). The big multiplex chains are also ahead of Kesari. Its a good number for a film which did not have much for the youth barring the cast and even here Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt were not in the regular zone.

The film may have got a good opening day number but there seems little for the youth and mass and it will eventually have to be the families and female audience which will have to drive the film. The real value of this initial will only be known in a few days time though the Mahavir Jayanti holiday tends to give a 25% boost but no big film has released on this day in recent past.
