This is the reason why Alia Bhatt can't vote in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had requested Bollywood celebs and other personalities to urge people to go out and exercise their vote. Actress Alia Bhatt, who is currently riding on her career high time and has delivered back-to-back box office hits, also endorsed the PM's request and advised people to vote. Alia had tweeted saying, "A vote is a nation's voice. A nation's choice. Use your voice. Make your choice. #Vote #Election2019"

However, it turns out that the 'Kalank' actress cannot vote herself in the general election. Recently in an interview, Alia Bhatt was promoting her upcoming film along with the cast when she was questioned whether she was going to vote this election. The actress replied that she cannot vote.
The reason behind it is that Alia doesn't hold an Indian passport as she and her mother Soni Razdan are British citizens. Alia will be allowed to cast her vote only when she gives up her British citizenship as India doesn't permit anyone to hold dual citizenship. Even during the previous Lok Sabha elections in 2014, Alia was quoted saying by a daily that she would try and get her voting card the next time, which the actress surprisingly hasn't
Not only Alia Bhatt, Bollywood superstars including Akshay Kumar, who holds Canadian citizenship, and Deepika Padukone, who holds a Danish passport, cannot participate in the electoral process this election.
