Part 13 - Walls of steel

As the clock struck four, GK appeared out of the washroom tying her hair into a high ponytail. Clasping her water bottle, as she was about to go for a sprint, a familiar voice interrupted her.

"Do you mind if I join?

Plastering a forceful smile across her lips, GK turned around to face Akshat who was exhibiting his biceps in the oddly cut vest he was wearing.

"Will a NO stop you, dear husband? GK retorted to which Akshat smiled.

"Figures! GK shrugged as she pulled the cap of the grey hoodie over her head and turning around raced out of the house.

"Isn't it strange how you know the area around here, Guddan? Akshat asked as he reached her and started jogging with her.

GK smiled mirthlessly. She had her guards up since yesterday after the stunt he had pulled, she didn't want him messing with her head, or her heart.

"That is true, roads are but mere directions that brain can easily memorize and legs can get easily habitual to. I did inspect the entire area as soon as I was out of the hospital!

"You won't relent, will you?! Akshat smirked humorously.

"You will only believe what suits you, won't you? GK retorted back in the same tone.

Akshat who had his eyes fixed on Guddan, failed to see the approaching woman and collided into her.

"Are you okay? He enquired pushing against the woman's arms gently.

"N-No...I..I am f-fine! The woman stammered bowled over by Akshat.

GK rolled her eyes and taking the matter into her own hands, jerked the woman away from Akshat by pulling on her elbow.

"Seems like the collision got to your head and affected your speech functions! Why don't you visit a doctor?! GK suggested with a poker face and moved past the woman.

"Jealous much!? Akshat chuckled catching up to her.

"She wasn't the only one affected! No wonder you're being delusional so early in the morning! GK huffed.

"I don't mind if delusions are beautiful!

"Harbouring hopes that will be soon crushed brings forth nothing but misery, And with that GK entered the forest park area.

As they continued their run, quite a few girls checked out Akshat and every one of them was forced to turn away when a blazing pair of browns threatened to rain down a hailstorm of daggers on them.

Soon they paused in the middle of footpath and GK started to do jumping jacks while Akshat opened his bottle and emptied it over his sweaty head.

As he brushed back his wet hairs with his fingers and tiny water drops traced his jawline, he looked every each a model. And he smirked victoriously as he caught Guddan sneaking glances at him every now and then.

"Jerk! She cursed flustered knowing fully well, that he was doing this on purpose.

But every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

"Kinna gabroo jawan hai!

Akshat stiffened as his bicep was clasped by unknown hands and he turned around to come face to face with a group of mohalle ki aunties'.

"Ji?! He enquired trying to swat her hand away but she refused to take the hint.

"Why don't you help us in our exercise?! She fluttered her lashes at him and Akshat felt like puking.

An aunty was flirting with him!!

"C'mon Handsome! she insisted trying to be sultry.

As a coughing sound reached his ears, he turned around annoyed to see Guddan bending over the bench, holding her stomach with her right hand while her left palm was clasped over her lips.

As their eyes met, she chortled and coughed and her eyes watered at his situation. She tried to keep it in but failed as another short bout of laughter erupted out of her throat and he glared at her.

Apparently, she had ended up choking on the water that should have gone down her water pipe when an absolutely cringy sound of "C'mon Handsome! had reached her ears.

And then those priceless expressions of absolute horror on his handsome' face!

She could only watch as he helped the various aunties with their stretching exercise. Some feigned helplessness to touch his biceps while the others couldn't get their joints to move past a certain point.

After 10 torturous minutes of unwanted attention, Akshat came back with his face shrivelled to half the size.

GK pursed her lips trying to control the tornado of laughter swirling in her stomach. But ended up bursting when an unsuspecting Akshat got his cheeks pinched by a granny his mother's age and then got a rejuvenation kiss as a complementary gift too!

GK broke into laughter as he stuck out his tongue disgusted and childishly wiped his palms over the cheek that was kissed.

"N-Now...I...k-know wh..why y-you dressed up like this! She pointed to his revealing vest, in between her laughing session.

"You have quite a following, hubby! I-I am Jealous!! And she broke into a full blown laughter.

The brows that had scrunched due to her incessant laughing soon eased out and the corner of his lips puckered up into a peaceful smile, on seeing her enjoying herself. He could see his old Guddan laughing away.

"So you did enjoy their company, look at that smile on your face! GK grinned slyly finally done with her laughing.

"I didn't but if that was the price for this precious smile on your face, then I won't shy away from doing it all over again.

GK paused and looked at the heart melting smile on his innocent face.

"God, you are so corny!! She made a constipated face and turning around, started sprinting.

Why must a grown up man behave so adorable!?' she thought annoyed trying to fight the blush creeping up her face.

"Tumhari company ka asar hai! He shrugged, joining her.

As they reached the gym, GK removed her hoodie to reveal a stony stomach under the sports bra.

Getting on the treadmill, she started to run while Akshat just stared at her flexing muscles, stumped. He never knew that Guddan was so...fit!

However the sound of wolf whistling interrupted his train of thoughts as he saw a guy leering at her, while running on the opposite treadmill. Akshat's blood boiled and clenching his fist, he started to approach the guy, only to be stopped by her.

"No need to create a scene, Mr. Jindal

Begrudgingly Akshat nodded and joined the adjacent treadmill to hers. He glared terribly at the guy and yet he refused to look away. Feeling helpless, Akshat clenched his fist harder forcing it to go white when GK clasped his fist and nodded her head in negative.

"You should not give him the pleasure of getting a rise out of you, she spoke up and with that she started to lift the weights.

"Aha...kya kamar hai...kya figure hai... the guy snickered watching GK.

"I've had enough of this! Akshat growled between clenched teeth as he started to approach the guy but GK stopped him yet again.

"He is all bark, no bite, she tried to calm Akshat as a vein popped in his head.

"Yeah..yeah...listen to your li'l hot mistress, geezer. I wonder how a senile old fool like you ended up wi...

However the remaining guttural words waiting to be puked out of his nasty throat were shoved back in as GK raised her leg and kicked him across his face making him fall on the floor. As he turned around with his palm nursing his aching jaw, GK took a lethal step in his direction and Akshat could only look in disbelief. His wife freaking kicked a 100 kg boulder like he was feather! And wait, she used violence while preaching him restrain!!

"I was putting up with your childish crass language but you went and crossed the line, B-R-A-T!, GK hissed as she leaned to his level and jerked him close by the scruff of his T-shirt.

"No one...I repeat NO ONE gets away with disrespecting my MAN!

Akshat's heart fluttered at her announcement. He could see red in her eyes and acceptance in her voice for him. My man had a nice ring to it!

As soon as Guddan turned away from the guy, he got up behind her back and went in to get a punch when Akshat pulled Guddan away and punched the guy straight on his mouth, knocking his upper incisor out. Bawling his eyes out, the guy scurried away while GK sighed.

"You don't listen, do you?

"Have you ever heard of Practice before you preach?! Or do you believe in practising violence while teaching silence?! Akshat counter questioned wrapping his hands. He had been happy a second ago but suddenly his mood dropped.

"I can take a stand for myself! She replied exasperated.

"Likewise, Mrs Jindal, Akshat retorted peeved.

GK's heart did an unnatural summersault at his reference of her as Mrs Jindal.

"What are you being grumpy about? She asked noticing the dead weight in his voice.

"From where did you learn to kick like that?! Akshat asked, locking his black ones with her browns

"So, it's about this, eh?! She smirked amused as she wrapped her palms in bandages and taking her position in front of the punching bag, started raining down punches on it one after another. Ten minutes and 100 punches later, the bag buckled up under the tyranny of her punches and fell to the ground.

"The world I live in is a nasty place, hubby! Forget about living, even surviving is an art that only the blessed ones possess. And with my kind of luck, I've had to learn to fend for myself, She spoke up.

"What sort of world you've lived in? How am I supposed to know?! All you do is play riddles with me! Akshat shouted agitated.

"That's the thing Mr. Jindal. You are not supposed to know anything. Darkness by all means is way more comfortable than embracing the sun, won't you agree? GK spoke up softly and exited the gym.

Everything about her was shrouded in mystery. The more he uncovered about her, the more he figured was left to unravel. They had grown close over the past 5 days but how close was he to the truth?
