Kat Says No'
Rohit Shetty's next big-ticket film, Sooryavanshi, is the talk of Tinsel Town. From the time he announced it in his last release, Simmba, everyone has been wanting more on the film. There was talk that Katrina Kaif would reunite with lead actor Akshay Kumar for this film. But from what our sources has told us, this is not true. In fact, the actress has clearly denied this. Kaif's spokesperson told us, "This news is completely untrue. Well, with Katrina Kaif not in the running, we wonder who will be finalised for this upcoming Eid dhamaaka.
Third Time Lucky
There have been whispers about Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment taking their successful Fukrey franchise forward with a third instalment. The makers refuse to commented on this despite being quizzed, but when we recently spoke to one of the most popular characters of the series, Varun Sharma aka Chucha, he gave us the good news that Fukrey 3 is on the cards.
Sharma said, "I really hope that this film gets made. It is the one franchise which is the absolute closest to me because I started out with that. All of this today is because of that film and the character of Chucha. I think they are in the process of writing it right now. And as soon as they have the bound script ready, and everything is in place, we will be rolling. I have spoken to them about this and I think it is getting made.
After the second instalment raised the bar, we cannot wait to see what this third film has to offer.
A Sacred Entry
Ever since the first season of Sacred Games released last year, the audience has been going ga-ga over this Netflix Original show. The wait for the second season is almost over as the makers have announced an update next week. But before that comes out, we have a surprise for you.
We all know that the upcoming episodes will bring many revelations and the one we have is the entry of a noted actress to the show. We hear that Kalki Koechlin will be a part of Sacred Games Season 2 and play a pivotal role in it. Pankaj Tripathi is already a part of the next season and the show will see Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui reprising their parts. With the addition of Koechlin to this mix, it sure seems to be the show to watch out for.
Familial Twist
Finally an announcement on Imtiaz Ali's upcoming directorial was made last week. Many speculations about the film have been doing rounds since months now and we finally know that the yet-untitled film, which is touted to be on the lines of Ali's Love Aaj Kal, is on floors in Delhi at the moment. Another rumour that was rife was about Saif Ali Khan, who was the lead in the original film, doing a cameo in this second installment. We heard that Khan would play the role of his real-life daughter Sara Ali Khan in the film. But there is a twist in this tale. Our sources have revealed that it just might be that Saif Ali Khan will essay the role of lead actor Kartik Aaryan's father in the film. Wonder what this dynamic will bring on the screen on February 14, 2020.
Signing Spree
Last week, we told you that Radhika Madan might be a part of Dinesh Vijan's upcoming production English Medium directed by Homi Adajania, a sequel to the filmmaker's 2017 hit, Hindi Medium. There is also news that Madan is in talks with Vijan's production house, Maddock Films for another movie opposite Sunny Kaushal. And now, there's news that the Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota actress has signed a three-film deal with the production house, which will include the aforementioned films along with a third one, details of which have been kept tightly under wraps. With only two films in her kitty currently, Madan is bagging one strong projects after another, thanks to her substantial acting prowess.
Guess Who?
Yes, it's true that the road down from the peak of success is more difficult than the one going up. And this once renowned filmmaker is the perfect example. The filmmaker was known to be a path-breaker at one point and he delivered many off-beat hits in his time, apart from working with some of the biggest superstars in Bollywood today.
But after his exemplary noir era, the filmmaker and his work grew less and less credible with every outing. Now, this once coveted director has made a female-centric film and is trying to pitch it by turning it into a franchise of one of his formerly successful films. While this seems reasonable, the catch is that the film was shot three years ago. In fact, it was then being sold under another title. But since nobody had agreed to back the release, the filmmaker is trying all his tricks in the book to get the film to see the light of day. Isn't that a sad state of affairs?!
Guess Who?
The only certainty in our business is that nothing is certain, and there's just no saying whether today's equations and pecking order will remain relevant tomorrow.
Take, for example, this young production house whose first lot of films featured one that was helmed by a then much-acclaimed director and two upcoming actors a combination whose credibility/buzz the banner hoped would help it not only find takers for the film but also establish itself. As so often happens in this line, the best laid plans came to a naught, as both the actors and the director saw their market standing take a tumble with their subsequent releases. And, as luck would have it, despite a few initial hiccups, the banner itself has grown in stature of late with a string of successes.
So instead of its cast and crew helping the production house as initially planned, the banner's newfound credibility is the only hope the still unreleased film now has of seeing the inside of a cinema hall! This is perhaps what philosophers mean when they advise us not to run helter-skelter, seeking solutions... salvation lies within you!
