Akshara is dead. Mishti's father (Naman) is stepbrother of Akshara's husband (Naitik)
Devyani (Naman's mother, Mishti's dadi) gave away Mishti to Rajshri to take care of because Misti's mother remarried and Naman the father was in jail. She wanted Mishti to grow up in a loving environment that Rajshri Maheshwari (Akshara's mother) could provide. She raised both Kuhu and Mishti.

This was explained last week on YRKKH where Kuhu, Mishti, and Rajshri made a guest appearance.

Mishti is Shaurya's sister, Akshara's brother-in-law's daughter who was abandoned by them and was sent to Akshara's family i.e to Shaurya's family.

And since Mishti received loads of love and found her mother-figure in Shaurya's mum which makes Shaurya ki maa, her badi maa.

I still don't get it though. How Mishti can be Shaurya's sister? Misthi and Naira are cousin sister (if Naithik and Naman are step brothers), like Shaurya is uncle to Naira, then Shaurya is uncle for Mishti too. If Rajeshri is Nani for Naira then for Mishti too she will be Nani.

But may be like you said, since she found mother figure in Rajeshri she started calling her Badi Maa. It would have been better if she calls her Nani Maa. At lest it will not give confusion.

I did not say Mishti is Shaurya's sister. It was a question that how can it be since Naira and Mishti are cousin sister. Because in your earlier comment instead of Akshara you have commented Mishti is Shaurya's sister, that is why I asked to clear the confusion.

Looks like you mistakenly typed Mishti instead of Akshara. Just correct it though otherwise it will confuse the new comers.

Todays scene was very touchy, especially Bade Pa saying that giving birth does not make one a father... I always liked these two as well and am glad that they are still positive characters in this show.
