Varun Dhawan finds leading lady for Coolie No. 1 remake in Sara Ali Khan

David Dhawan reviving franchise with Farhad Samji as dialogue writer; adaptation likely to roll July.

Farhad Samji: "It is a boon for any write to be working with a dedicated actor like Varun Dhawan. I narrated the dialogue draft to him recently and he immediately asked me for a copy, so he could rehearse his lines even though there is still time for the film to go on the floors. I am looking forward to teaming up with Sara for the second time."

"David ji had been looking for the perfect script for a while. We discussed many ideas even though Coolie No. 1 was always on our minds. We finally zeroed in on it because the lead character has a certain innocence even when he is conning others and that's something today's audience hasn't seen in a while."

"We have written it keeping the sensibilities of today's audience in mind. It will have plenty of humour and colour, larger-than-life songs and will be mounted on a lavish scale. We are still contemplating locations, it could be set on home ground or even set abroad."
