Good roles are written for male actors with great dialogues, punchlines, acting scope while female leads are there either as eye candy or in supporting roles with very few good dialogues or scope for showcasing their acting capabilities.
Male actors can be not so good-looking yet they get appreciation for their acting or action scenes but female leads have to look good, act well inspite of little scope or insignificant roles.
Only female oriented movies have good scope for actresses but they get low budgets, less screens, and not as much hype as male dominated movies.
Alia gets the choicest female roles thanks to KJo but other good actresses dont get that choice, they have to do the best with whatever they are offered.

Karan's new launches can be hardly called actresses, they are just propped up glam dolls.
Legit female actresses like Tapsee, Yami, Ileana, Kriti, etc have to make do with whatever bit roles they get in mainstream movies even after they have proved their worth in female dominated smaller movies.
Older great actresses like Konkona, Tabu rarely get chances to shine. This is why some established actresses are producing their own films/ web series to get better scope for acting.
Situation has become so bad that we hear very few hit songs in female voices, even heroine's emotions are expressed by Arijit Singh's crooning, its like females have even lost their voices. Where are the songs by Lata/Asha or Alka/Kavita or Sunidhi/Shreya? Why dont females get to express their feelings in songs? Why are there so few female voice songs nowadays?
Currently all the odds are stacked against female actors hence they are lagging behind and very few actresses can be called stars due to lack of good roles and opportunities to shine. Probably reflects the growing misogyny of current times.

We are to blame. There have been talented actresses but we ignore them because they are not as skinny or pretty or whatever. We wouldn't know if female Rajkumar or Ayushman hit us on the face because we are too busy judging her looks. There have been actresses who gave us wonderful performances and no one talked about them. You, me, us. We don't talk about them. We judge them on entirely different scale than their male counterparts.
I freaking loved Mrunal Thakur in love Sonia last year. I can't wait to see what she does next. I hope Sanya and Radhika get more work and more appreciation. I am also curious about Banita.

some of these answers are right on, totally agree.
If you count the number of films that are appreciated every year at awards and/or critically acclaimed, they usually involve the same actors. I understand that success rate and popularity is a part of casting in good films based on the bankability of the actor/actress-but when will directors/producers look past this and cast based on true talent?
for example, Alia is on her third year of winning best actress awards. she may have performed well in those very nice films given to her. But how come she was winning a filmfare or whatever for her performance, but was not a contender for the national award?Who influences the audience's perception of who is a good actor, or who is a star, etc? It is mostly media perception and shows like kwk who pity 4 actors together implying that you guys are the important ones. all kjo needs to do is put up an insta post of 5-6 actors that give the idea to an easily influenced audience on who the "important" actors are.

the industry imo is hugely biased in creating perception and we create fabricated stars. its all an illusion, and people like karan johar know this.

*someone mentional mrunal-love sonia. hugely talented. where is she? and why is she not getting offers that an alia shraddha or deepika get?
bollywood will take a huge step up if it changes its obsession with stars and maintaining a cult mentality.
Hollywood-is superior. no offense and this is the reason why

All the things people are saying about giving time to actresses nd all.. yes I agree.. but don't you think all these new actresses look way too young infront of the heroes? Purely based on visual appeal.. Like for e.g. Janhvi, Ananya etc. I cant see them opposite Vicky or say Ayushman.. they look like kids infront of them.. I think someone like Ishaan looks a match for them.. or maybe say Vikrant Massey who have small frames..
But otheriwse all the upcoming male actors look like well built, grown up men whereas the girls look so very young..
Either we need young boys to match them or some tall girls to match the heroes.

we hardly see tall guys with tall girls in real life though.
tall guys always go with tiny girls.
I mean my dad and mom are one example 😆.

As for age factor, well Jhanvi and Ananya aren't doing movies with the guys you named.

Yeah they aren't doing any muvis together at this moment.. I am just thinking about the possible pairings in future movies.. Tired of the same old same old..

But yeah.. who knows.. Sushant is quite tall, but he and Sara looked good together.. so kuch bhi ho sakta hai..

Edit: Isn't Jahnvi working with Vicky and Ranveer in Takht.. Cant visualize her with any of them..

well she will be probably seen as a mistress/courtesan, and kings used to keep young girls in their harem, so not really far fetched tbh.
