I think Kunal was very happy today when Mauli choose Ishaan. He was more interested in being Mishti's buddy. I think Kunal said whatever he said about getting back with Mauli because he felt overwhelmed by her ehsaans' and because Pari needs a mom. Not because he loves her. I hope for Kunal's character's sake he truly loved Nandini till the end.
