Total Dhamaal recorded the highest weekend of the year though that does not mean much at this early stage of the year. The 61 crore nett it has picked up would have been the 8th highest opening weekend of last year in NETT and GROSS and that gives a better picture.
The only films that were better last year were Sanju, Race 3, Thugs of Hindostan, Simmba, Padmaavat, Baaghi 2 and 2.0 so Total Dhamaal is in good company. Sanju and Race 3 were the only films top 100 crore nett over the first weekend.
The collections of Total Dhamaal were 20% better than Gully boy and 50% better than Manikarnika - The Queen Of Jhansi and these two were the top weekends prior to Total Dhamaal. The top opening weekends of 2019 till date.
