Alia didn't even get the question and started comparing ideologies with playing a drug addict. One hell of a certified idiot in the industry!
Rather be stupid than fake intelligence? How about neither and have general awareness of what's going around in the country you're staying? How freaking hard is it to pick up a newspaper and read news? And the easiest excuse these days- I am apolitical. 🥱

Cant listen to the interview now but if its a general question its easy to answer. Political figures control everything in India. One wrong sentence about anything political and your next movie is done. Look at what happened to Shah with his intolerant comment. I feel he's still suffering because of it. So I understand stars fumbling over anything political. It is better to act stupid. It is better to say apolitical. Why risk so much over one media byte.

It was actually quite a simple question. The film has the Azaadi song which is anti fascist and at the same time Ranveer as a person put up a pic hugging the PM. So it was basically about how do you differentiate between idelogies of characters and person and how they balance the line between both. And then they both start fumbling.

Why do Bollywood stars needs to take a political stand?
Especially in a country like India in which people go crazy because so and so said something.
It's not like everyone will support their opinion so it's better to be quite.
Social media can act cool if someone says something and if the said thing takes an ugly turn how much will social media help them other then ranting and then just living their own life while these Stars will get drag down.

But the question wasn't really about political stand ... It was about what do they have to say when their reel ideologies contradict with their real .. They didn't have to take any stand whether they are right or left wingers ..
I thought the question wasn't even political in nature ... Anupama wanted to know how they differentiate between reel and real and whether it matters to have real mirror what they are standing and selling for in "reel"!

To my surprise Alia actually understood the gist of the question and drew her own analogy to answer the question in her own capacity (-limited Ofc 😆)! ... whereas it was Ranveer who fumbled and completely shook it off saying how he's got very little involvement in Azaadi song .. 😆 ... [now this the same guy who once boasted offscreen how he hasn't come across any woman having higher IQ than himself]..😆.. expected more from him!

Lulz... totally agree, when I heard this azaadi song I went and asked in the gully boys thread if this song was picturized on ranveer... cause I thought there was no way this phattu was involved in this song.
Look how he distanced himself saying I have no engagement with this song, it not shot on me. I'm very apolitical. He didn't even comment when anupama mentioned his pic with modi

Yeah I was taken aback how quickly he distanced himself .. then I understand every time stars take a stand it gets controversial! ... But if they really want to show themselves as apolitical, why the shenanigans with Modi? .. Shouldn't these stars decline such an invite which puts them in the spot light?! ... They all are such a mess offscreen! ...😆
