Priya Prakash Warrier who stole hearts on the Internet with her one wink from a Malayalam film Oru Adaar Love's romantic track Manikya Malaraya Poovi is in the news again but not for pleasant reasons. A teaser of her film, Sridevi Bungalow, was launched recently and that has put the makers in a spot with Boney Kapoor. The teaser traces an actress's (played by Priya) leading to her death in a bathtub. Now, this is not a mere co-incidence as last year, legendary actress Sridevi passed away due to accidental drowning in a bathtub in Dubai. It is natural that this movie would invite controversy as there are too many parallels drawn between Sridevi's real life and the movie Sridevi Bungalow. The makers confirmed receiving the legal notice and claimed that they will fight it. The director of the film Prasanth Mambully said that Sridevi is a common name and the movie is NOT based on the legendary actress but a work of fiction.

That is actually pretty sad to have a film like that but title seems ok the bungalow can be named after anyone

Boney Kapoor is a very big guy. In India, the blind lady of justice is blind only to poor and middle class people's plight.

Anyway insensitive it may be yes. but why haul the poor girl over the coals. She's trying to make a mark and sometimes controversy is the only way to get people to sit up and notice. it's legit I think.

As it is, it's so hard for an outsider girl to make a mark in the big bad world of bollywood as star kids and even many toadish slavish public consider it their personal playground.

What are the options for any outsider? Casting couch? Relationship with film makers...a 19 yr old girl should be used and abused by some buddha???? or wait for 5-10 yrs by if they're lucky to get some insider reject scraps that somehow work at the box office?

I ask what? This Boney Kapoor is such an unscrupulous man and now here he gets to be the holy one?

Priya Prakash responds to legal notice by Boney Kapoor after 'Sridevi Bungalow'

After getting tangled in ample controversy with her upcoming Bollywood debut Sridevi Bungalow' Priya Prakash Varrier, has come forward in her defense of her film.

In conversation with Times of India, the 19-year-old Wink Girl revealed that Sridevi is a mere name and the audience will get to decide whether its centered around the late Bollywood star or not.

"Sridevi is just the name of my character in the movie. Who would want to create such controversies? I think the curiosity surrounding the trailer is good and we have to leave it to the audience to judge if the film is based on the veteran actress Sridevi ma'am," she stated.

The Malayalam actor as well as the director of the film Prashanth, was earlier sent a legal notice by Boney Kapoor for using the name of his late wife calling it insulting.'

Responding to the legal notice, the director stated: "In the notice, Boney Kapoor has raised a few objections against our film including the usage of the name and doing a biopic of the actress. He wanted us to alter the name of our movie within 24 hours. We sent him a reply explaining that Sridevi was a common name and there was no logic in objecting to it. It is just coincidence that my movie tells the tale of an actress named Sridevi."

"Like Priya said, we would like to leave it to the audience to decide. The film is a crime-thriller and it is important to maintain the suspense of the story. I cannot walk around and reveal the plot to all. I am a hardcore fan of actress Sridevi and I respect and admire her a lot. But just because she died in a bath tub doesn't mean nobody else won't. Allow us to release the movie and let the people decide, he added further.

"I am ready to face it as I am very well aware that a biopic cannot be made without permission. It is a story that came to my mind about an actress named Sridevi and certain situations that she faces in London, he reveals.

Pertinent. Boney didnt even divorce his wife Mona before marrying her. So legally he's bigamist and then what rights does he have to sue anyone?

Actually he does have the right😆 Just because Mona did not exercise her rights to take Boney to court for Bigamy, it does not mean Boney cannot exercise his right to sue people who are trying to sensationalize his wife's death and earn money at the cost

I am fairly certain that after Mona's death, they legalized their marriage and even if Boney does not have the right, Jhanvi and Khushi can very easily do so
