This show is meant to be rom-com show and it is indeed a rom-com show with some drama and a pinch of suspense. Comedy is there majorly. The dialogues are mostly funny and so are the characters.
The character of Guddan itself is funny. A young immature girl aged 21 who is clumsy becoming the mother-in-law of 3 elder ladies. When you hear the concept it seems that perhaps the girl has married an elderly guy which turns out to be true to certian extent.
Why do I say certain extent is because if you look at the male lead character Akshat Jindal aka AJ's character he doesn't look a senior citizen. He isnt even one.He has adopted his three sons and his age is to be estimated at mid 40s. AJ is a guy who is fit and doesn't look like 40 at all, and he looks like he is in his 30s. There are many Bollywood actors who are around 40-50 but they look like 30. Though I feel AJ looks too young for a mid 40 guy.
His character is totally contrasting to Guddan's character, and AJ ke dictionary main funny jaisa koyi word nahi hain. You won't even see him smile. (Besides the recent episode, took him 70 episodes to smile)
But then this is show is not purely comedy as I said. There are other elements. About romance, AJ and Guddan are not like normal couples. They got married in the most unexpected way. (Though I hate this bride under the veil concept) But then they share a crackling chemistry. Infact AJ and Guddan aka Akshan's chemistry is the USP of the show.
Yeah mostly the romantic scenes might be like typical romantic scenes(hero-heroine ko bachane aate hai and yeah long lasting eyelocks) but it's cute to watch.
But there are some really heart warming scene of Akshan when they went to the Dargah and also when AJ was upset over the lost painting of his first wife. I thought this scene was really a good one. We got to see a silent Akshat instead of an angry one who would fire on Guddan mostly.
Besides comedy and romance, there is drama. Of course har drama main drama hota hai. Credit to three bahus. Three typical vamp type Bahu. The eldest Bahu Durga, who just cares about responsibility and is even more mean than AJ. The middle Bahu, Lakshmi who is kind of those foolish types. The youngest Bahu, Saru who is the most evil one shown right now and is greedy to the next level. In other shows Saas makes life diffcult for Bahu, but here Bahus make life difficult for the India's youngest Saas which again makes it a typical Saas Bahu drama.
The show has also shown shades of suspense in it, with a lot of unanswered question. Like why did AJ adopt the three sons? How did Antra died? Why does Rawat thinks AJ murdered Antra? Does AJ has hand in Antra's death? (Looks like makers has forgotten there is a character called Rawat)
The show has other positive characters like AJ's mom always supporting Guddan and the dream Saas for every Bahu, and Guddan's dad who tries his best to help his daughter by encouraging her. It has other negative characters like Perv, the person behind AJ-Guddan's marriage for his evil purposes and Kaushaliya the typical greedy step mother.
Now why this show is different is because of the concept of India's youngest Saas. What I really like about this show is that they have shown perfect balance and contribution of comedy with some drama and lovely scenes. I think its still worth watching compared to all those supernatural shows. It's a stress buster according to me.
What I don't like about this show is how Perv and Saru escapes so easily despite doing some evil things. Some of the scenes are really unrealistic and doesn't make a single sense. (Like Durga selling Guddan to a scrap dealer was a really foolish thing)
But I think every show has flaws. The good thing about Guddan Tumse Naa Ho Payega is that its main genre and couple is its strength. And if you realise most of the characters are more of positive so far though there are quite some negative characters.
I also liked how AJ has tonned down to Guddan and instead of scolding Guddan all the time he is being more soft towards her these days. Indications of AJ melting towards Guddan. As for Guddan her character is immature and bewakoof due to which she falls in trouble but sometimes she isn't that foolish if you notice. She can manage certain situations which I think the three bahus can't do as they can only complain.
What I don't want makers to do, is to drag the show(the pace of the show so far is fine, though they should accelerate Akshan's relationship slightly more), bring back Antra(for flashback is fine, but being alive a big no) or bring in more evil characters. It's high time Rawat should be brought back to action and Guddan does the thing for the reason why she is in Jindal Mansion. And yeah they better don't add supernatural elements. Or make it like Ekta dramas. (If this was an Ekta drama, Guddan would have been the punar janam of Antra)
They should tone down the evil deeds of Saru a bit and someone should start getting suspicious (one of them between Akshan, most likely Guddan can be the one) but perhaps Durga might be the one to suspect Saru first. I really want one of the Bahus to be positive and be with Guddan. That would be something really different. (Lakhsmi is the perfect candidate as she is the only character whose evil shades are yet to be shown, if not Durga but her character is quite confusing)
Overall, its very easy to criticize a show but not easy to make a hit show. Credit goes to the actors who are doing the job so well, working so hard and justifying the characters well making the show look more interesting. I have personally became a big fan of Nishant after watching this show though I have never seen his earlier shows. Kanika would also pick up soon, since she is a new actress but she is perfect for Guddan's character. No one could have played Guddan and AJ better than Kanika and Nishant.
