Sameer entered his room and found his wife digging her bag. Her back was facing him, and taking advantage of this opportunity he tip toed towards her. But before he could wrap his arms around her waist, "Sameer", she sensed him from behind. He stomped his foot when she sensed his arrival before he could complete his task. "Please Sameer tumhare purane techniques ab kaam nahi karenge." "Kya dhoondh rahi ho?" he asked. "Night dress" she replied as she continued searching for her night dress. Contrary to Sameer's expectations Naina pulled out from her bag a simple cotton salwar kameez, instead of her usual satin night gowns. "Yeh kya hai?" "Night dress." "Par tum toh night gown pehenti ho na toh phir yeh?" "Wahan par sirf hum dono rehte the, yahan pura parivar hai toh main uss type ke night dresses nahi pehen sakti." "Kyu nahi?" "Sameer agar raat ko mujhe kamre se bahar jaana ho toh main waise night dress pehenkar todhi na bahar ja sakti. Kya sochenge mere baare main." "Kuch nahi sochenge. Mujhe lagta hai ki dadi khud uss type ke night gowns pehenti hogi. Waise dadi se yaad aaya mere office ke jaane ke baad kya kiya tumhe. Dinner table par ekdum se chup chap thi, no bak bak and no bakwas." "Woh, zyaada kuch nahi bas unhe todha irriate kiya aur Rohan ka timetable scheme ko cancel kar diya." "Wait what? Tumne time table ko cancel kar diya. Itni badi baat ho gayi aur tumne mujhe bataya nahi. Tell me in detail, kya hua?, kaise kua yeh chamatkar?" Naina recited to him the whole day's incidents and Sameer couldn't control his laughter. "Matlab tumne deepika se kehkar TV ka volume badaya. Not bad, tum toh dadi se bhi acchi khiladi nikhli. Par dhyan se dadi ko itna lightly bhi mat lo. Kab kya karegi tumhe pata bhi nahi chalega." "Ok baba, lights off karo, bohot needh aa rahi hai." "Itni bhi kya jaldi hai Mrs. Maheshwari. Abhi toh bohot kuch hona baki hai," he said pulling her in his embrace. "Sameer..." she moaned when he nibbled at her earlobe. Pulling away from the embrace he cupped her face and leaned towards her to grab her lips, when they heard a knock on their door. Naina gently pushed him and went to open the door. Opening the door she found the little intruder innocently looking at her. "Aap mujhe story sunaoge?" Deepika asked Naina. "Haan kyu nahi", Naina replied. "Thank you" saying this Deepika ran inside the room. "Yeh yahan kya kar rahi hai?", Sameer questioned. "Main story sunne aayi hoon, story sunke he sone chale jaungi." "Sune do na Sameer", Naina requested him. Sameer nodded in a yes though he wished to have his private time with his wife.

"Chalo ab story khatam ho gayi, ab good girl ki tarah apne room mein jao aur so jao", Sameer told his little sister. "Bhabhi kya main aaj raat aap dono ke saath so jao." Sameer signed Naina to decline the request but looking at the poor girl's face Naina agreed to Deepika's request. "Theek hai beta, tum yahi so jao." "Thank you bhabhi", Deepika hugged Naina. "Mujhe bohot needh aa rahi hai, good night." saying this Deepika made herself comfortable between Naina and Sameer. "Deepika tum hamare beech nahi so sakti", Sameer told Deepika, who nicely placed herself between him and Naina. "Par kyu, jab main mummy papa ke saath sothi hoon toh unke beech mein he sothi hoon, toh yaha kyu nahi?" "Tumhe kaise samjhao. Theek hai so jau", Sameer said frowning. Naina chuckled at his disappointed face and she immediately received an angry glare from him.

The next morning Vishaka and Naina sat together at the breakfast table, sipping their coffee and tea respectively. "Main Deepika ko utha kar lathi hoon, warna school ke liye der ho jayegi", saying this she got up and turned towards Dadi's room. "Maa Deepika mere kambre mein soo rahi hai." "Tumhare kambre main, matlab? Mujhe laga ki woh maa ke saath unke kamre mein so rahi hogi. Kal maa ne toh yahi bataya ki woh Deepika ko apne paas sula legi." This was enough for Naina to understand dadi's intentions.

When Deepika had got ready for school and came to have breakfast, Naina decided to confirm her doubt. "Good morning Deepika, kal raat ko acche se needh aayi?" "Haan bhabhi." "Deepika tum hamesh mummy papa ke saath sothi ho ya akele." "Mostly mummy papa ke saath." "Kal raat ko tumne mummy ko bata kar aayi ki tum mere saath sone wali ho." "Nahi, main toh dadi ke room mein sone wali thi, phir dadi ne kaha ki aap bohot acchi stories sunate ho aur kaha ki mujhe story aap he sunnouge. Mujhe story sunne bina neendh nahi aati, isiliye apke paas aa gayi." Sameer who had come to have his breakfast heard the conversation between his wife and sister. Naina saw him standing near the breakfast table with a stern look. "Yeh sab unki planning hai right. Maine kaha na ki dadi chup nahi baitegi. Pata nahi unhe kya milta hai mujhe irritate karke." "Maza," Naina spoke in reply of his statement. "Huh?", Sameer looked puzzled. "Haan, humme irritate karke toh unhe maza aayega, kyuki maine joh irritate kiya unko. Par tum toh hisab barabar kar rahi thi." "Don't worry iska bhi hisab barabar kar doongi", Naina said with a smirk on her face.

Sameer had left for office and Naina was back in her room working on her new book, when she heard a knock on the door. "Maa aap wahan kyu kadi hai, andar aaye na." "Main yeh kehne aayi thi ki aachhe se ready hoke neeche aa jau, dadi ke friends aaye hai aur tumse milna chahte hai." "Mujhse?" "Haan. Jaldi se tayar hoke aa jau," Vishaka left saying this and Naina knew that it was some new plan of dadi.

Naina changed from her salwar kameez to an elegant saree and went down to face dadi's plan. As she entered the living room she saw a bunch of ladies of about the same age as dadi sitting on the sofa. All the ladies sitting there turned to see her come and murmured something among themselves. "Aao Naina, yahan aake baitho", Dadi said pointing at the seat next to her. "Yeh sab mere dost hai," dadi said as Naina took a seat. "Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Patel, Mrs. Ahuja, Mrs Bhatt aur Mrs. Verma." Naina just smilled at each one as dadi took their names. Naina's eyes searched for Vishaka when dadi asked, "kisse doondh rahi ho Naina, Vishaka ko? woh toh bahar gayi hai. Tum jao aur Keshav ki madad karo sab keliye snacks laane mein." Naina got up from her seat and went towards the kitchen wondering what dadi would be planning.

She returned back with a tray of juices along with Keshav who brought namkeens in a plate and kept it on the coffee table in the living room. Naina again sat beside dadi. Dadi signaled one of the ladies present to start with their plan.
"Apne bare mein kuch batao Beta." Before Naina could reply to the question Dadi intervened saying, "ab Naina ke baare mein kya bataeye. Woh bohot he samajhdhar aur hoshiyar ladki hai, Naina ko dekhar koi bhi yeh nahi kehega ki woh bin maa ki bacchi hai, bohot acche sanskar diya hai iske gharwalo ne." "Mrs. Somani apne inn dono ki shaadi Delhi mein kyu nahi karwayi, aakhir yeh bhi toh Naina ka sasural hai na", the same lady posed this question in front of dadi. "Woh darasal kya hai ki Naina bachpan se he Ahmedabad mein he pali badhi hai aur upar se Naina ke gharwale Delhi mein shaadi afford nahi kar pate." "Kya bol rahi hai aap Mrs. Somani, afford nahi kar pate matlab? Maine sunna ki apki bahu ek mamooli librariyan ki beti hai, toh kya yeh sach hai?" The lady spoke again. Naina was shocked by the conversation that was talking place before her eyes. So this is why Dadi has called her friends, to insult her. The situation was just perfect for dadi, Sameer was out of the house and dadi very well knew it was the correct time to execute her plan.
"Librariyan ki beti huyi toh kya hua, unhe bhi pyaar ho saktha hai aur kuch armaan ho sakte hai, ab Sameer aur Naina ek dusre se pyaar karte the toh hum kya karte," Dadi replied. "Waise sach bataye toh apka dil bohot bada hai, warna aise ladhkiyon ko kon apne ghar ki bahu ke roop mein sweekhar karenge, na uthni sundar, bin maa ki bacchi aur upar se middle class", the lady said continuing with her taunt as per dadi's plan. Dadi casted a glance at Naina, who was too shocked to say anything and her eyes were filled with tears. "Yeh aap kya keh rahi hai Mrs.Verma", a voice from behind Naina emerged in her support. Naina turned around to find Vishaka standing behind her. "Aap meri bahu ke bare mein aise kaise keh sakthi hai. Aap jaanti kya hai Naina ke baare mein." Vishaka questioned the lady. "Haan Mrs.Verma, aap mere ghar mein kadi hokar meri bahu ke bare mein aisi ulti seedhi baate kaise bol sakthi hai. Mujhe lagta hai ki aap sab ko apne apne ghar chale jaana chiye", Dadi said immediately changing her side, as soon as Vishaka entered the house. She went and closed the door as soon as the ladies exited the house. "Maa apne Mrs.Verma ko woh sab bolne kaise diya?" "Arre Vishaka yeh tum kya keh rahi ho, main bhi utni he shocked thi, jitni tum ho." Vishaka turned towards Naina and said, "tum mere saath chalo beta."

Vishaka brought Naina to her room along with her. "Yahan baito" she said and offered her a glass of water. "Naina bahar jo kuch bhi hua, use liye main bohot sharminda hoon." "Apko sharminda mehsus karne ki zaroorat nahi hai maa, isme aap ki koi galti hai he nahi." "Par phir bhi, mujhe bohot bura lag raha hai, tum unke baato ko dil par mat lo." "Its ok maa, waise bhi yeh koi nayi baat nahi hai mere liye, bachpan se sunthi aayi hoon."
"Tum jaanti ho Naina, main bohot lucky hoon, joh mujhe tum jaisi bahu mili. Jab pehli baar tumhe mili thi tab tumhe theek se samajh nahi payi aur mujhe laga ki tum aur Sameer ek dusre ke liye bane he nahi ho. Par main galat thi. Shayad yahi meri galti thi ki main Sameer aur Naina ko do alag insaan ki tarah dekh rahi thi. Mujhe laga tum dono ek dusre se bohot alag ho par main yeh samajh nahi paayi ki tum dono ek dusre ko complete karte ho. Aaj mujhe ehsaas hota hai ki main tum dono ke relationship ke baare mein kitni galat sochthi thi. Aaj tum dono ko ek saath dekhkar mujhe bohot khushi hoti hai. Jis tarah tum dono ek dusre ko support karte ho aur hamesha ek dusre ke saath kade hote ho, yeh sab dekhkar mujhe Sameer ki choice par garv hota hai. Jisse main Sameer ki weakness aur distraction samajhthi thi ussi ne mere bete ko responsible aur samadhjar banaya. Bhaghwan kare tum dono hamesha khush raho." Vishaka said, while Naina felt overwhelmed with Vishaka's care and love.

That evening Sameer returned from his work and noticed Naina's gloomy face. It didn't take him time to understand that dadi was behind it. He wondered what she would have done in his absence. Seeing Sameer, Naina hugged him to relieve herself from the morning's incident. No matter how much she tried to deny, the morning incident had affected her, though she wished it didn't. She wanted to counter dadi's plan but at that moment she coudn't come up with any. She had faced those taunts often in her life, but Sameer's love provided her the strength to never bother about those taunts and believe in her potential. But somehow hearing them again today, Naina's eyes were filled with tears, probably because it was the first time Mrs.Maheswari was hearing them.
"Naina kya hua, tum udhaas kyu ho, dadi ne kuch kaha tumse?", he asked gently stroking her hair. Pulling away from the hug, Naina told him everything that happened in the morning, how dadi had called her friends to insult her and how Vishaka had comforted her. Cupping her face he asked "Tum theek ho?" Naina nodded in a yes. "Waise uss aunty ka naam kya bataya tumne. Mrs.Verma right?" He asked, determined not to let her go that easily for insulting his Naina.

The dinner went smooth, no one spoke anything, but Sameer kept giving angry stares at Dadi and she would return it back with her smirks. After the dinner was done, everyone retreated to their rooms. Sameer closed the door and locked it as soon as they entered their room. He caught Naina in a back hug and placed his chin over her shoulder. "Jabse Delhi aaye hai, tabse tumhare saath theek se waqt he nahi beeta paya, toh maine tay kar liya ki aaj puri raat tumhe sone nahi doonga." He turned her in his arms.
"Vishaka... Bobby...Rohan...Keshav..." They heard dadi scream from her room. "Arghh...Pura mood kharab kar deti hai yeh", Sameer shouted frustrated. The whole house gathered outside dadi's room to check if she was fine, though Sameer wished the opposite. "Kya hua maa, sab theek hai", Mr.Somani asked. "Nahi, mere kambre mein AC kaam nahi kar rah", dadi replied. "Toh uske liye itni zoor zoor se chilane ki kya zaroorat thi", Sameer asked annoyed. "Maa aap chinta mat kijiye, main electrician ko bulata hoon." "Par itni raat ko kon aayega. Ab main AC ke bina kaise soungi." "Maa aap chinta mat kijiye main kuch karta hoon", Mr. Somani tried to calm dadi. "Lagta hai mujhe aaj raat AC ke bina he sona padega. Main ek kaam karti hoon main guestroom..." dadi trailed off and later added on, "nahi guestroom main toh Sameer aur Naina rehte hai." "Koi baat nahi dadi main hall mein so jaata hoon, aap aram se mere room mein soo jayeye." Rohan told his dadi. "Rohan beta tumhe takleef uthane ki zaroorat nahi hai, ek he raat ki baat hai, main adjust kar loongi." "Nahi maa, apke doctor ne kaha ki, raat ko, apko aachhe se needh aana chahiye. Toh ek kaam karte hai. Sameer tum Rohan ke kamre mein so jau aur maa aap Naina ke saath so jayiye", Somani announced his decision. "Kya? Dadi Naina ke saath nahi so sakti", Sameer sounded shocked and frustrated at the same time. "Suniye na, Sameer kaise..." Vishaka started to say when Mr.Somani said, "Kyu, kya problem hai, jab Sameer Delhi mein rehne aaya tha, tab Rohan ke kamre mein he toh ruka tha, toh aab kyu nahi." "Sameer beta mujhe pata hai ki tumhe yeh sab pasad nahi hai par sirf aaj raat ke liye adjust karlo", Dadi tried to sound as innocent as possible. Before Sameer could shout at dadi, Naina caught his hand and stopped him.

So finally it was decided that Sameer would sleep with Rohan in his room and dadi would sleep with Naina in her room. The place outside dadi's room was cleared and everyone went back to their decided rooms. Sameer got into Rohan's room fuming with anger and Rohan sensed his bad mood and tried to cheer him up. "Bhai raat ko bhabhi samajhkar kuch ulta seedha toh nahi karoge na?" "Rohan mera mood already kharab hai, chup chap so jau warna..." "Ok ok calm dowm. Good night." On the other hand smile never left dadi's face while Naina seemed to be irritated by the sudden turn of events.
