Seeing the developments over the past few days, it has been infuriating as a viewer and as simple human being.
The channel's BS is so evident, it makes me wonder what they're hoping to accomplish out of this, especially since their channel is already suffering. I have never seen a show and the people connected to it, get treated with this much disrespect. The whole crew, ranging from the production, to the director, to the actors, to the lighting crew, every single person put their all in and yet, they had so much more to show us. The fact that there was still more to show, honestly, blows my mind because what we were getting from this show already, even with the channel's stupid interference, was something I never expected from an ITV show. I guess the channel couldn't digest the fact there were characters presented, that were not perfect and embraced their flaws which is hypocritical considering how flawed the channel is itself. The last show I watched as it aired, was Rangrasiya, also on this channel. The story, the cinematography, the aesthetics, the chemistry of the leads, the supporting actors, everything was top-notch. I was captivated but you can tell the beauty of the show was ruined because of a TRP hungry channel and their interference. This show, also fell to a similar fate of our show now. The striking contrast to other shows that have been cancelled in the past, has been short notice and absolute gross mistreatment of the production house and everyone involved.
The channel has taken a HUGE advantage of viewers as well. Like Jennifer and Harshad said in their live chat this morning, the fans of this show did it all. To blame viewers, for not watching on TV at time slots that were never certain and that was always shuffled around, is disgusting. What did they truly expect and it's funny because despite the factors against the show, it still gained pretty good TRP in my view. In the digital world we live in today, social media is huge and factors into how we perceive different things such as show. The channel used the fandom to their advantage to get hype on their personal accounts and get the word out there about other shows too. Sadly, they still haven't learned their lesson from the backlash and they're still trying to use viewers with the last week hashtags. Also, the phone calls from international fans. Apparently they didn't know about the international attention and fandom of the show. How naive do they think we really are? What happened to the chart topper TRP's the show has been getting in the UK? That doesn't showcase the fact there is an international audience?
It's all been so upsetting and it's been sitting on my chest thus, this rant. What still gives me hope, and a little happiness through everything that has been happening, is the solidarity this fandom and the production house, has shown. The live chat this morning was a prime example of it. The continuous tweeting, threads on this forum, everything despite the news we have all had to bear, shows how strong this Bepannah family is and how the love of this fandom and show will remain Bepannah.
