The beauty of this confession lies in the fact that it was not needed yet it happened at a perfect time in a perfect way.
In most shows, viewers wait for leads to confess, that one BIG moment would come and one of them or both of them would say I love you to each other. The Grand confession where it is expressed verbally to each other the first time. This was a first " I Love you" for Behir too but this wasn't their first love confession... And frankly, not saying it wouldn't have changed a thing, yet saying it, changed so much without changing anything!
Not saying it wouldn't make a difference either but still SAYING it made a hell lot of difference here. How did they manage such a beautiful set up for such a delectable scenario here?!
Mahir knows, Bela knows, we know and whole world knows. In fact Mahir had multiple times said pyaar karta hoon tumse and very recently in a very matter-of-fact way. We've already acknowledged the fact that they don't need to say those words to each other which is already understood by both of them. YET, despite that fact, This confession had really hit us hard, just as it did to Bela. There in lies , it's uniqueness and something so very touching!
And their heated exchange just before it was SO heart-breaking! Mahir, as always, asked her ALL the right questions. Despite these questions he trusts her. He is SO much clear in his head about what he wants and where he stands even in SUCH a situation, you can't help admire the sheer strength of character of this man! What IS he made of?!
Bela - You have all valid questions... it's just that...
Mahir - It's just that you DON'T WANT to tell me anything!
You have a mother, you have a sister ... but you never bothered to tell me about any of it. I still have NO clarity on it. And I KNOW you won't tell me about your sister either.
(He was SO SO good in this part! He knew she'd lie or cover up or won't say anything again either and the mysteries are just building around him)
Bela - Please , trust me... don't you...
Mahir - I should be the one asking you that. WHY don't you trust me?! Why don't you trust me with your secrets? Am I so bad? So untrustworthy?
(HIs voice modulation at asking about trust was spot on, he was on the verge of a sob!)
Mahir - I will always stand with you. That is ME. You changed. I won't change. My priority was always YOU. In the past, in the present and in the future...is YOU... Because ... *pause*.... Main tumhara saath nahi chod sakta...
Bela - Kyun? Kyun nahi chod sakte? Priorites badal sakte hai naa? Aisi kya majboori hai?
Mahir - Majboori ki baat nahi hai YOU FOOL, I LOVE YOU! DIL KI BAAT HAI!
*sobers a little* I love you, Bela (Almost with a sigh, something off his chest which even he din't know was burdening him unknowingly)
He chose to love her. It's not usual Mahir Sehgal's dedication towards his promises, duty or responsibility... It's what his HEART wants... What He wants. So he was damn frustrated at the majboori word đ
Pyaar karta hoon tumse...Issi liye main tumhare saath saari zindagi khada rahoonga, andhere mein bhi khada rahhonga!!! MAN! The WAY he delivered these lines!!! Out of the world AWESOMENESS! âď¸đ
Then comes the 'seal the deal' moment which even tops the I love you,
Tumhe meri kissi bhi baat pe bharosa nahi hai naa? Par iss baat pe bharosa rakho *shows a finger*
MARTE DUM TAK MAIN TUMHARE SAATH HOON...

^ The way he said those lines literally took my breathe away!!! Because as always HE MEANS IT. He always means what he says and we know our Mahirji so well as to cling on to these words in the hopes that at worse times we can trust him to stand by them...coz if not him, no else could. He is man of his words, in thoughts, deeds and actions.
