For Kunal, oven is more important than the bun.
Like I've mentioned in another post , in reality fathers never love all children equally. Many men forget or totally neglect their kids from previous marriage when they divorce , remarry and get children from that marriage. Many don't even bother sending money for basic needs like food accommodation and residence, let alone shoulder any other responsibilities.
All these years , Kunal was happy , content and feeling superior and righteous that he did the right thing with Mauli by first having EMA and then dumping her for the mistress , because Mauli lied to him about Pregnancy which some how makes it OK to do all the bad things that he did with her. In his own convoluted cheap mind , that is.
But now if it is indeed proven to be a fact that Mauli was pregnant then that'll prove Mauli to be the better person who sacrificed and yet single handedly grew up his daughter beautifully. So he can't stay all high in his own eyes. Therein where lies the desperation. He desperately wanted to be proven right with his previous idea of NOT having a child with Mauli.
