Yes,he meant Sooraj and there was no Udaan tag and if he is really quitting definitely the message would have longer one and not a single sentence like we got one from him when show was supposed to go off air.
I think it's still not decided if new guy going to be Sooraj or not.
So for him ,Sooraj died and he will be new guy from now.
