That's what I meant. Instead of showing a 6 year leap, why not show a 3 year leap and start with their meeting? Maybe show the 3 year leap for a week and then go to the 6 year leap. It would have helped them develop the chemistry a lot better. I really hope they do show flashbacks as the development of a love story is critical in the success of a couple.
Because that just doesn't work from a storytelling perspective. There would be so many problems with it.
1. It wouldn't sit well with viewers because for Mauli it might be 3 years but for viewers it would be like she was crying over Kunal yesterday and now she is starting with a guy. It's easier to believe well she had these six years to build a relationship that I didn't see. I can't think of any leap where it starts with two new people meeting. It's just horrible storytelling.
2. It would take too long. Right now Ishaan is her best friend, he is the family's ladla, and he is her daughter's bff/father. If you want to show this from scratch and get to where they are right now how long do you think it will take? How many months do you think it will take?
3. it's stupid to invest that type of time in a story that you are not trying to tell. This is not a story about Mauli and Ishaan building a relationship. This is a story about the messy, intertwined, constantly evolving life of Mauli/Kunal/Nandini
No matter what some viewers believe, like or want, this is not a Mauli show. This is a story about the relationship of 3 people and Mauli is only 1/3 of it. The day Shakti walks out, it can become the Mauli show and they can focus solely on stories that have to do with her and not on the relationship she shares with the other two important characters.
