Over enthusiastic me thought the point of view of Mahir should be written. So here it is. This might turn into a full blown fanfiction, but at the moment I can't promise anything. So, treat it like a one shot. ALSO, SUGGEST SOME TITLES FOR THE STORY PLEASE. I SUCK AT NAMING STORIES.

Mahir's POV
He didn't love her the day he first met her. However, he cared for her like he did for everybody else. He felt it was his duty to look after her as she was going to be a family member, and with Yuvi being the way he was, well, someone had to, right?
Then on the day of the wedding, Yuvi left. He couldn't possibly let her be humiliated in front of all the guests, relatives, media. He just couldn't. Because that won't be the right thing to do, and he always stood by what was right. So, he stood by her. Throughout their marriage.
Even when she resented him and was hurtful, he never left her side. Because, he took the vow to be by her side for the rest of his life, and he didn't break promises.
Despite her bitter words, she cared for him. He could see the small changes in her, but they were so miniscule, the change was almost non-existing. But for him, those small changes meant the world.
However, during the time when she was working with Rehan to expose Jamini, he felt the dirty green monster known as jealousy for the first time in his entire life. He realised that she meant more to him than he cared to admit. And he almost admitted that to her during one argument. Almost told her that, "Kyunki main tumse pyaar karta hoon."
But he stopped. Because he knew that she wasn't ready to hear those words yet. He would give her the time.
For her, this marriage was 'naam ki shaadi', even though he knew that she felt the lines between them were blurring. He couldn't understand however that why she hated him so much. What wrong did he do?
Was trusting your own brother to do the right thing wrong? Was trying to stand by somebody he had grown to care for wrong? Was falling in love with your wife wrong?
If so, then he was wrong, and didn't care to be the right one.
When she held him and cried the tears of relief because he wasn't dead, he knew that something in her had snapped. Her reservations were weakening. When she did the pregnancy test to prove that she wasn't pregnant, wasn't close to Yuvi, he knew she had admitted to herself that she wanted to be with him. When she let him touch her, kiss her and didn't push him back, he knew that she wanted him, the same way he wanted her.
But then Shaan entered the picture. She said with a smile that she was going to be married to Shahnewaj. That she didn't remember him; and when she did remember him, she signed the divorce papers. His heart was broken. He would have to see her become someone else's.
However, by some miracle, she kept her wit and didn't get hypnotized. He was relieved to know that she wasn't doing everything on her own accord. It was also a relief that she didn't deny that she loved him. It gave him hope that she never said that she didn't love him. But she never said that she did either. She couldn't even answer if she missed him.
But maybe he had done something in his past to anger God, because Yuvi came back. He told his elder brother that he came back for 'his Bela'. But Bela wasn't Yuvi's, was she? She was Mahir's. But he then heard her say that she was, indeed, Yuvi's.
Mahir never felt heartbreak before meeting Bela. Every time she pushed him away, his heart broke a little. In that moment though, his heart was crushed, like the glass in his hand.
She loved Yuvi. Then why did she spend all those times with him? Why did she tell him that she wanted to make their marriage work? Why did she take the first step? Why give him hope? There were so many whys he didn't have answers to.
Maybe she and Yuvi were just the same. Like Yuvi, she also liked playing with people's emotions. Maybe that's why. Yes, that probably was it.
But he won't give her the satisfaction of breaking him completely. She already knew she broke him. But he won't let her control his emotions any longer. He was Mahir Sehgal. He has always been in control of everything. Be it business or his heart. A mere woman won't take his control away from him.
But she wasn't a mere woman, was she? She's his wife. The love of his life. And he knew that he would never love anyone else the way he loved her. But she didn't love him back. That was all that mattered in that moment.
He will let her go. Let her be happy. That was what love was about, no? He would be happy for her even though his heart will never be repaired, seeing her happily in love with his younger brother, in front of his eyes. Maybe he will leave? Yes, that's what he would do. Leave. Go far far away from here and never look back.
Everybody will be happy that way. Well, perhaps not maa. But she'll understand.
He sighed as he brought out the luggage from the cupboard and started packing.
