As Mary, Shraddha maybe.
As Celine, Mithila maybe. Or Kiara because she is younger than Veer.

Premam is my most favourite Mallu film. I fell in love with Nivin

Isn't Shradha a bit too old for Mary.
Though I like Premam for the presentation and realism, my fav is Om shaanti oshaana..have you watched it?

Ranveer as George. Sonam Kapoor as Malar because without makeup the way Malar was in the original movie, Sonam is the only one that looks normal no great beauty types. And she fits the bill age wise also.

Yami's model good looks wont work in this role and she looks younger than Ranveer.
Alia can be Celine.
Jhanvi can be Mary.

Agree..but Sonam is a very limited actress and a poor dancer.

@Ardhanarishwara: I think you are comparing apples and oranges. Consensual relationship between adults without cheating isn't immoral or wrong. Being uncomfortable is a different thing, but than again millions of people are uncomfortable regarding homosexual relationship, inter caste relationship, inter ethnic relationship, that doesn't make it wrong.
Plus the main thing it was how the love between Malar and George was not a conventional and impractical one, as it broke all the rules of age gap, language, state, religion and so on. It was a pure free love which broke many boundaries drawn by the society, and that is also the reason it wasn't full filled. Miss Malar wasn't a typical teacher, right from start she was shown as a cosmopolitan and modern person who didn't followed the typical rules and mannerism. Hence her falling in love with George didn't followed the typical pattern which is shown in most movies.

I didn't compare both situations at all..I said I was uncomfortable about student-teacher relationship hence couldn't enjoy George-Malar..then from your comment what I perceived is( I don't know what you meant) there is nothing to be uncomfortable as it happens in real life too...so I pointed out that being real doesn't make it normal/comfortable and pointed out example of EMA.
I am not comfortable with homosexual relationship stories, but that doesn't mean I find it wrong, it's just that that's not my cup of tea,so I wont be able to enjoy it.
And I didn't say I am uncomfortable watching EMA..I will be uncomfortable only if they portrayed it as a paak rishta(EMA as divine love and the hero heroine as pure white characters like makers of serial Silsila badalte rishton ka is doing)..If the treatment is in a mature way I may enjoy it...And that was my second point.. treatment matters..I felt George-Malar story a little bit rushed up and I coudnt understand why is Malar leading him on since day 1..He might not be the first guy to show interest in her, yet she is reciprocating since the beginning..why, what she saw in him.. i can't process it hence I can't connect with her..I can only see their relationship as an attraction rather than a great love story.

I am not getting defensive or arguing..if it comes across like that ,thats because I am not very fluent in English...I am just trying to put forward my view and hoping for this discussion to help me let go of my prejudice and watch it with open mind...I don't want to miss out a gem.

@Ardhanarishwara: firstly I understand your POV. I am just saying that EMA and a love between two adults who just happen to be teacher and student. Hence giving example of homosexual relationship. EMA falls in grey area, because it involves cheating and hurting a third party. While the love shown between Malar and George isn't something like that. Also we need to get that the movie never tried to show the love story between them as something great. The main point of that love story was it was just a pure love story which broke many boundaries. When Koya questions George why did he fall in love with a teacher who is from another state, isn't from same religion and isn't pretty, his answer is simple: I didn't fall in love with her knowing her as a teacher, I fell in love with her at first sight.

As for why Malar fell for him, we need to understand that just like we don't question why George fell for Malar, same way we should question why Malar fell for him. Isn't love something which isn't explainable? Plus it was not like Malar fell for him madly from the first go. It was a gradual process where they were just starting to know each other, with Malar trying to speak in Malayalam and so on. They were in love, but never confessed, Malare song and the scenes there were George's dreams. The main motive of the love story apart from obvious reasons was also to normalization of the supposedly immoral relationship between Malar and George.
