Deepika Padukone, the muse of Sanjay Leela Bhansali had been given titular roles both in BM & Padma but both roles got overshadowed by other actors. In BM her role was given such weak characterization that it seems that Priyanka was the lead heroine in the film.

In Padma Deepika was again given titular role but the role was just an ornament with no characterization at all. She had a fixed expression with wide eyes giving Rajput appeasing speech at women gathering and then went to fire for immolation. Thats it. 🤢 Her beauty was also overshadowed by Aditi Rao Hydari in the film. 😲

Yes.

In RL, her character had a zest for life, even in the song Lahu muh laggaya, you could be wowed by her expressions.

But then in BM and PV, she is the strong warrior with perpetual tears in her eyes🤪

Such an absolute waste of potential.

Deepika has no expressions no matter what role she's given. I found her better in Ramleela rather than in both BM and Padmaavat.

By no means.

A. Dp was never his muse. Aish was once upon a time. Dp he met when kareena walked outta ramleela...and thouggt her gorgeous.

B. Mastani was very well written.She was supposed to be a warrior princess in love with bajirao. Dp did perfectly well as long as she had to seem vulnerable and deewani. Fighting scenes...let it be. Very poorly done. Too much dance and too less fight.PC was too good and ate dp up in the film.

And Mohe rang do laal. Oh god. if that is katthak...Lmao.

C. Padmavati had nothing to do. The first few scenes dp spends trying to be katniss and failing miserably. It was just cardboard. I think she still looked quite beautiful and ghoomar was fab. But yes aditi was magic. Both acting and beauty wise.

D.Dp is very good as long as she has to stare with teary eyes or have fun. She looks gorgeous and has immense star quality. As long as she plays hers3lf like naina or piku or tara...she is very good. Give her a challenge she fails miserably.

E. Slb worked around dp inability to do different things. He used rs and pc to cover her deficiencies up. So no...he gave dp the best films of her career so far and dressed her up well.

yes from cinematic prospective but from marketing and commercial prospective no. The mere name of Mastani and Padmavati, is enough to give her standing and legacy in the industry.

SLB gave Deepika 3 title roles.

More importantly he gave her Ghoomar and Deewani Mastani .Years,decades later..these films will be remembered by these songs.

The' goddess' aura she has today is thanks to SLB.

People are still protesting because it bothers them.

Yes, I feel both the movies highlighted what a non-performer she is rather than helping her in any way. I always say if SLB could extract a good performance from even Aishwarya but not her then that says a lot.

I remember when Mohe Rang Do Laal had came on youtube most of the comments stated imagine if Madhuri had done the song in her prime.

Just look at Kahe ched ched mohe and compare it to that shit that was served to us even though the former did not even have such amazing costumes, location and help of vfx. 🤢

like someone said he gave her a legacy which is very hard in times like these...online forums might discuss how bad mastani is or how she is bad at padmaavati, but offground you see lot of people imitating her characters, her costumes, her make-up, Mastani was a rage during eid and so is padmaavati this dussera...it is just not limited to box office, they cemented her position in a way no other roles could do...

Sure performance wise, she did amazing in her other films than SLBs but guess she got what she wanted from these films...
