Yes, but it doesn't matter. Deepika knows how to leverage the positive takeaways out of every successful movie.

I think SLB successively gave less and less to DP in terms of characters with each movie. Ram-Leela, she got the most.

Don't know about raw deals but both characters were half baked on script itself. As such even a better actress would have been underwhelming in the role. PC as Kashibai was good but anyone in her place would have walked away with honours. That's cos the role was written beautifully. Kashibai wasn't the mean wife who didn't deserve Rao, she was cheated and when had the chance to get Rao back to her, she took the right path of saving two lives. Honestly, everyone would have rooted for her character even if DP herself had played it. PC just enhanced the role further onscreen in her way. But in some scenes where she behaved like the shy bride, she did went OTT. DP was handling not only half baked character but also the third wheel character. And to top it, her one tone acting(read non acting). Ofcourse she was going to fall flat! As for PV, agree her acting was off too. But it's clear she had nothing much to do in the film. Shahid and Veer characters were not developed well too imo but their acting shone through and probably why they didn't get criticised much. DP's acting in PV looked like a possessed spirit to me. It was unintentionally hilarious. But to think about it, I cannot see another actress from her batch in that roles. Only Aish would have been perfect for both roles and justified it. And for Kashibai, Rani would have easily outdone PC like a boss! Maybe it's SLB's biasedness for Veer. Cos in that sense, I think only Veer and only him would have done justice to Rao and Khilji, and half credits goes to SLB for making the role stand out.
