Palak Vs Geeta
Disclaimer This is purely based on my observation, if I have missed anything do let me know.
Geeta from what I know initially left her husband as she had found other man who can give her what she wanted. Later on it looked like she had just had enough of VP and that's why she wanted to leave him. Her personality from the beginning has been of someone who is not happy with status quo. She wants to be on top by any means and doesn't matter who is left behind. This was described brilliantly when she runs ahead of her chubby boy and says you have to be fast otherwise you will be left behind. The kid I am thinking is not even 10 so he is still a little kid and at that age which parent overtakes their child and that too in a game? I am a big believer in letting children learn life lessons but not at such a delicate age. That is a gradual process. Further, she easily told the shopkeeper that her kid is unwell and cut the queue. Again, not a big deal but in the scheme of things she doesn't care whom she uses as far as she gets what she wants. Even with her new kid she is always giving orders, I have never seen her sitting down and actually asking the boy how has he been? As if she has been training him for this day? He has a girlfriend but never gets to talk to her in peace. In my opinion her personality is very dominant and head strong. She will be a great business woman as she knows what she wants and can go through any means to get it. She doesn't care whom she brow-beats as according to her, it's her whom she is focusing on.
Contrasting this Palak is total opposite of Geeta even before Ritwik came in the picture she knew what she wanted but she cared for people. She worked with a NGO and her goals were not at expenses of others. She had a plan and she knew it will take time and she was willing to wait and achieve that goal through her hard work. When Ritwik came in the picture, again she didn't start liking him because he was rich but because he was caring (the Rajasthan scene) and her feelings changed drastically after the kidnapping track. She doesn't and never has cared for money because if she had then Naman Kapoor was her ticket out. He wasn't bad looking and his family was more liberal than crazy VP who keeps frothing at the mouth whenever he even thinks of Palak. Further, at that point she had already told Naman about her past and he didn't care. But she chose to marry Ritwik knowing full well that she is not liked by his dad. She is with him without any expectation and she always encourages him and loves him unconditionally. If she was like Geeta she would have never got up from her wedding and told Naman he is just assuming things. I think Ritwik knows that too and that's why he keeps supporting her. Unlike Geeta her priority is not being on top by any means but it is reaching her goals through her hard work. That is the major difference between Palak and Geeta and therefore I don't think she will ever leave Ritwik because he is poor. She needs something bigger to be a deal breaker like cheating but I don't think that will ever happen. I seriously hope that there is no memory loss stupid track as that is so clichd and Ekta hallmark and I will be very disappointed.
Now I thought to look at the difference between Ritwik and VP as well if we are comparing the women in their life:
VP initially appeared to be a very level headed, cool, and savvy businessman who thought and then acted. This was shown brilliantly in the initial episodes during the medicine crisis when he asked all the right questions and acted after looking at the situation from all angles. Anyway, fast forward to Ritwik wedding track and it is as if a new VP has taken birth. What bothers me the most is he is still bitter about wife number one leaving him. I understand that it must be hard to raise a kid himself but it is not the end of the world. He has said that he thought a lot before marrying Geeta so I don't think he was that madly in love with her. He knew what Geeta was like and still after a lot of thinking (whatever that means) chose to marry her and had a kid with her. She leaves and it looks like he married Mamta quickly, so whilst he was heartbroken he was practical too. He knows how wonderful Mamta is so all women are not the same yet he raised his son with the belief that women eventually will betray when that is far from the truth. With the exception of Geeta, every woman in their life is trustworthy and they know that. Rishabh knows that and that's why he married Sachi. VP as a dad should have told Ritwik that yes your mom left but you are worthy and she doesn't deserve you; instead, Ritwik had this mind-set that women are gold digger and best to not trust them.
Palak changed for him when he saw how she was. He never read the contract and until he overheard the two idiots he was of the same belief. I think when he found out that Palak had not married he realised that money is the last thing in her mind. I thank that it happened the whole wedding drama otherwise it would have been sad to see Ritwik distrusting women. However, VP is still singing the same old tune which no one wants to listen. He thinks Palak will leave Ritwik then as a dad wouldn't it make more sense to keep them together so that the boy is not heartbroken? How will it help Ritwik if Palak left him?
Now coming to the pressing issue, looks like the angle has changed and it could be Ritwik leaving Palak. I doubt that will happen as Ritwik loves her too much and that's why I hope no memory loss track. This show has been a breath of fresh air and I hope it stays that way until the end. I am not too worried about it ending as at least the story will be fresh and consistent rather than all those stupid multiple marriages, memory loss, and plastic surgery crap that Ekta loves to dabble with when it comes to her show.
If I have missed anything, feel free to add.
