This post is dedicated to the hug that Randeep baba promised will happen soon and also to Sameer's hormones that have been on fire since Naina said 'tumhe gale lagena ka mann kar raha hai'. But before we the fandom gets the ultimate SamAina hug, lets look at the symbol of back hugs given by our fave bold Naina to a very shocked Mr. Maheshwari.
From December to October, as months passed and seasons changed I was left with one constant question: why back hug?
We know Sammy boi has wanted to hug Naina for a while but never really acted on it till a few days ago. He did this for Naina's comfort and it shows the amount of respect and love he has not only for Naina but also her morals. Naina on the other hand has always been the one to close the distance between her and her Sameer. They have been a way to for her to always show her support for Sameer no matter come what may.
BACK HUG 1: 'O Meri Jaan'
The first back hug that Naina gave to Sameer marked a monumental gesture in their masoom nirdosh dosti. The behenji Naina who had slapped him for wanting to kiss her hand, broke a major physical barrier between her and Sameer. At a time when Sameer was breaking and felt abandoned by his own mother, Naina lightly placed two hands on his shoulder and rested her head on his back and whispered softly 'I Love You'.

O Meri Jaan ab nahi rehna tere bina.
Mount Abu track was a major one in their relationship. John Green wrote 'I fell in love like I fell asleep, slowly and then all at once.' For me, the time Naina and Sameer spent together before Mount Abu was the 'slowly' in their love. Especially for Sameer. It took time for them to build on their relationship, to be comfortable with each other. The situation slowly progressed from them awkwardly standing around looking at each other, not knowing what to say at Sameer's birthday to their endearing '24 ghante ki baatein'. Mount Abu defined the time that Sameer fell in love with Naina all at once. The spot where they shared their first sunset together and realised with the blooming day their blossoming thoughts for each other is where I could see Sameer's first ardently falling moment. It became a place of comfort and solace for him. So much so that when he was breaking down this place is where his feet automatically led him to. For Naina too, that particular night had changed the way she perceived Sameer. She could see the depth and the many layers hidden in his being. After that night, she trusted Sameer enough to take him to her room. Post the Rakesh finding out disaster, she could sense the truth and depth of Sameer's immense love for her before even he could. It gave her the comfort to be able to close that physical distance. You see her eyes are closed. It's because she developed a blind faith in Sameer's love that day. She found a stability in placing the weight of her body on his.'Mai tumhe bhi bahut manti hoon Sameer.'
There is something so heartbreaking but at the same time beautiful about this moment. Sameer was thrown into a world of darkness when his own mother refused to accept him as her son. Disowned by the very woman who had given birth to him, Sameer stood alone on the cliff of the hill where just a few nights ago he had confessed to having experienced the best time of his life. Lost in this abyss of blackness she pulled him back.
Feeling her weight on his back somehow gave him the strength to be drawn to the present moment and to the woman who he had set out to seek revenge from but unconsciously started changing for. Her trust in him and her immense love for him became expressed in this lightest of feather hugs. Barely touching for the world but for him it meant shattering his own walls. He opened up to her when he would to nobody else. This symbolised that he was already far gone in his love for her without even realising it.
'Tum kis kahaani ki pari ho, Naina?'
Of course in this moment when she helped him rise out of his grief, he thrusted himself down in a pool of guilt. Because he had hurt her: a pure, true, blessed soul. I link this moment of Sameer's tears to his tearing up at the hospital when he realised his love for her.
It's so poignant and telling in their story. Naina didn't just teach him to love but also to unleash that goodness inside of him. That golden heart he had kept hidden inside of him and refused to reveal to anyone. Afraid of it breaking. But at this moment when he broke her heart, he broke his too. Because his angel who had changed him, made him realise his own goodness. That very pari was now disappointed in him, his image in her eyes broke and he couldn't face that so he ran. But he ran still bearing that weight of her heartbreak mixed in with her love on his back. This separation brought with it the value of Naina in his life. She will forever be the angel who saved his soul and whose one small back hug brought him back to himself.
