Dhanananda claimed to be a kshatriya himself. Why would he hate kshatriyas?
It was mahapadmananda who rooted out every kshatriya king and that's why he called himself second parshurama. But this hatred is out of blue.

Dhananda was a Shudra so his hatred towards the upper casts can be anticipated

Rakshas is shown as a Chamcha of Dhananand or a evil plotter everywhere thats the reason I hate the Indian historic shows they make everyone related to the evil characters evil.

I think the day is not far when we would see a version of Ramayana where Bharat, Mandavi and Yudhajit were equally calculative for Ram's Vanwas, and who knows Shatrughan and Shrutkirti would have their share in the plot too

Though I agree people revolted against him, the real reason was huge conspiracy in which brhamans played role...suddenly there were plagues, murders in magdha...Also in direct clash dhanaanad defeated Maurya and Chankya twice...he lost because his own people cheated him ...

Brahmans didn't want to see any other person on high status ...irony is that Chandragupta Maurya dissed Brahmans and became Jain and Ashoka the greatest maurayan king made budhism number one religion of India... 🤣

Did CGM become a Jain after becoming the king? I doubt this I think he had become a Jain earlier! But I am not sure of it so wont comment

Dhananand was a powerful king for sure, but where did you get the information that common people were happy with his rule? There cant be a mass revolt until people are dissatisfied by the governance, he was a powerful but never a popular king. His taxes were very strict and common people hardly had anything left for them (like pre renaissance kings of Europe) He was always anti Brahman and insulted them for no reason (insulting anyone without a reason is not acceptable)

Please dont attribute everything only to the supposed Bharhman atrocities, or else why didnt the Brahman's revolt against Buddhism spread by Ashok

So do you think that Dhananand was a great king? Where did you get this idea from? I dont know why do you people try to show Brahmans as the villains everywhere (I am not a Brahman P.S. but what exactly did they do back then to be so notorious? And as I said if they were so powerful and stuck to their religion, they would have tried to stop the Mauryans from converting or at least propagating their religion, but there is no proof to show that any of these happen

When did I ever say that DN was a great king?! Even Class 5 history books mention how cruel and oppressive he was and how he imposed heavy taxes and insulted Chanakya.I simply said that since it's CGM's story its natural that the villain would be DN irrespective of his caste.
@bold,what exactly do you mean by 'You People?' I am a Brahmin myself for starters. But isn't it common knowledge that the Brahmans and the upper castes tried to suppress the lower castes back then? And it existed way before the Nandas or the Mauryans.
Okay not all of them were notorious but a huge section of them certainly were.

All I was trying to explain to the @LuckySnow is that treat a show like a show and don't turn it into a caste debate. If the show is about one person then his nemesis will be the antagonist for its a TV show.
Alexander's villification went overboard and DN already had the elements of a villain so they made him more interesting.

I am not a Brahmin as I already said. And by you people I mean the people who portray Brahmins as the villains of all times (irrespective of the caste they belong to)

About the suppression, it definitely happened, but it was not always the higher caste who suppressed, it was always the ones who were powerful that suppressed. And the kind of suppression you are talking about happened at least 500 years before Dhananand, had the suppression been so much Mahapadmanand wouldnt have become the king of the biggest state of his time. That suppression was a tale of much before.

Plus even the suppression of Brahmins has been there or else Parashuram or his stories wouldnt have been so famous

Villain vo hota h Jo apni khushi k liye dusri KO tang kare, apne fyde ke liye dusri KO nuksan pahuchaye, jisme badle Ki bhawna ho, etc etc.
And Jo mene abhi padha dhananda k baare me was Ki he insulted chanakya, he used to levy taxes on gareeb people etc etc... Vo apni soch Ki vjh se villain tha na Ki caste Ki vjh se.

bang on...exactly...he was not a villain because he was lower caste or he was not a brahmin...but he was a villain because of his deeds.

Exactly my point as well

Just because he wasnt a Kshtriya couldnt be a cause that people were against him, if that were the cause they would have been all the more against CGM or Ashok since they weren't even Hindu/Sanatani but Chankya always guided CGM till the end (if fact there is still a dispute about CGM, many historians say that he was lower caste born too yet we dont call him a villian)

Dhananand was brave and powerful for sure but was a bad person who exploited his subjects and thus is a villian
