PadMan to screen at the Tokyo International Film Festival

Akshay Kumar's hit film PadMan which also starred Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in the lead roles will be soon screened at the Tokyo International Film Festival. Scroll down for more details.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar's hit film PadMan which released earlier this is will be soon screened at the Tokyo International Film Festival. In a country where periods are still considered a taboo, the R. Balki-directorial was an eye-opener for many. The movie was not only appreciated by the audience and critics, but it was also a massive box office success. Made on a budget of Rs 20 crores, PadMan earned Rs 120 crores worldwide. The flick also starred Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in the lead roles and was based on Twinkle Khanna's book The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad.

PadMan was based on the real-life story of Arunachalam Muruganantham. Arunachalam is a social activist from Tamil Nadu who made low-cost sanitary pads available for women in rural India. In the movie, Akshay's character Lakshmikant was based on him.

Recently, Akshay took to his Instagram handle and shared the new Japanese Poster of PadMan along with the caption, "Here's the Japanese poster of PADMAN! Excited for the film to be screened at the Tokyo International Film Festival!!"

On the professional front, Akshay is presently shooting for his upcoming film Housefull 4. The comedy film is being directed by Sajid Khan and stars Kriti Sanon and Bobby Deol in the lead role.

Apart from this, he will also star in upcoming Indian period war drama film Kesari alongside Parineeti Chopra. The film is based on the story of Havildar Ishar Singh who participates in the Battle of Saragarhi while yearning for the respect of his estranged daughter.
