Budget is high and rating is low , but if u see then porus , bayhadh, KRPKAH , EDT was Hugh budget and give 0.8 to .o.6 ratings till their last date of onair, and still sony has given so many promos of this shows atleast for 4 Months, but this days they have stop promoting their shows.😕 don't know what is wrong
So there are several factors, beginning with content strategy. Its a well known fact that Sony's primary revenue comes from reality TV (and similar content) ...spread across the year. Soaps are inserted into this strategy a lot like loss leaders - usually to maintain and retain a modicum of an audience as they shift from one phase of reality show (or something similar) to the other. Next comes, what to show relative to soaps. So they do a lot of consumer focus groups and quant research with several rounds of factor and cluster analysis and they come up with 5-6 sub-genre clusters of soap-like content (e.g., historical, women oriented, love, family etc etc), So they start evaluating scripts in order to check for fit to the content clusters. Next comes time-slot fit ...what to show to pitch against competition channels for a certain time slot (knowing fully well that soaps are loss leaders in their strategy) ...and then comes relationships. Producer relationships/ actor relationships etc with channel... deal making has a huge relationship factor - we all know that.
Given that they are continuously evaluating scripts and having producer conversations, if they find something not making money in a span of two-three months and find something else ready-to-go on air for the same time slot and has the potential to make atleast the same revenue but with lesser budget or make higher revenue with same budget, they will close doors to the incumbent serial.
So when we see that some other serial is not shown the door despite low TRPs, it's totally possible that one or more of the above factors are in that serial's favor.
For e.g., take a look at these top 10 shows of TV ... they fall in different sub-genre clusters of God/ religion, history, crime/ mystery, family, love and reality (reality music, reality GK). Therefore thought is that maybe, YUDBH fulfils their need for a love story at a lower budget and now if they have decided to show ladies special, it maybe because they want to fulfil something women oriented again at a lesser budget (just a hypothesis ... not sure because I am not sitting inside the Sony room :D)
