Hey Guys,

Seeing as today is a leap Year:

Meaning 29th Feb -which only occurs Once every four years,

It's a classic story. Girl meets boy. Girl and boy fall in love. Girl and boy move in together. Girl and boy talk mortgages, marriage, babies. And then? Nothing. Girl waits. And waits. And waits.😆

It is a leap year and, traditionally, February 29 is the day when it is "acceptable" for women to propose. So if you need an excuse, seize this opportunity and do it. Ask him. 😆

Great Britain: Women can propose on February 29th

According to legend, this is because in old English law February 29th had no legal status. The English people believed that if the day was ignored, so to could their traditions be ignored - thus, the traditionally male proposal was turned on its head – allowing women to take the reins and propose. Other reasoning is that as the day was used as a means of 'fixing' the calendar – it could also be used as a way of 'fixing' old traditions.

In 13th century Scotland, a law was passed stating that should any man turn down a female proposal – he must pay a fine.

Greece: No marriage in the leap year

Following in leap year superstitions is Greece; here it is traditionally believed that if a couple are to marry in a leap year (the entire year, not only Feb 29th), then the couple will have bad luck for the future. Apparently, one in five Greek couples still believe, trust in and carry out this superstition.

Questions:

Would you ever Propose a guy on a leap Year -even for a joke or serious.

or

Do you think that it is more traditional if the guy asks?

So start proposing here...😉😆

ahahaha!

my friend proposed to a guy for a joke.. it was funny as the whole canteen turned their faces in shock 😲

A girl proposing 😲 - bet it will hit the college headlines too 😆

realistically.. i dnt think i would do it, but for a laugh i would.. im one of those sort of people 😆

i do thnk its the man hus supposed to drop on their knees - not cuz their knees are stronger then womens but cuz i think it makes sense too.. a woman knows they love a person.. but if a man proposes it actually does seem like the man loves the woman as men are good at running away from their feelings lol

I would like Him to propose... I don't think there's anything wrong with a girl proposing tho...

Yesterday I was watching a show on TV and there was this girl who suprised her bf by asking him the question in front of the Nation... she went on her knees and took the ring out... he said yes! They made a really nice couple...

but yh I personally would like the guy to propose...
