Hi everyone,
Been sometime since I visited the forum.Been watching 3-4 eppys at a stretch in fast forward mode for sometime now...However,Wednesday's and Thursday's eppy reminded me of a line of thought I had posted sometime back..

Sameer's entry into Naina's life changed her relationship equations with the people she loves forever. This post is intended to bring the changes in her relationship equations from a purely logical perspective.

1)Naina is person who seeks approval from people
2)In this process of getting approval she always puts the other person and his/her demands first.
3) Once she gets their approval and is confident of not losing it,she starts putting her needs ahead of theirs ,esp in issues where Sameer is involved.(This nature starts only after Sameer enters her life. She is not like this earlier). In this process she inadvertently hurts people.
4) If the other person(whom she hurts) threatens to withdraw approval or transfers any negative consequence to her,Naina again goes into "You first,me second"mode and apologizes profusely and sets the relationship right.
5)If the other person meekly submits and does not transfer the pain or the negative consequence of Naina's action back to her,Naina continues in "Me first" mode.

Point 4 and 5 are very important.Point 4 describes her relationship with Swati and point 5 describes her relationship with Sameer.

Naina Swati:

When Naina gets comfortable with Swati, Naina starts putting herself first. Naina sees to it that Swati is punished so that she can get the coveted role with Sameer in the play in school. In the election too,Naina both puts forward and withdraws Swati's name without asking her consent. She does this because "she does not even think that Swati will be hurt by her actions."This is where my third point starts working. "Once she gets their approval and is confident of not losing it,she starts putting her needs and priorities ahead of theirs".

With Swati the relationship moves from stage 3 to stage 4:When Swati is hurt, she shows it.When Naina tried to take away her lead role,Swati made it clear to her that it was not done.Similarly I had predicted that Naina will suffer some consequence of neglecting Swati during the election. This happened yesterday with Swati stealing the votes...As I said, when Swati is hurt she shows it and hurts Naina back..The negative consequence of Naina's actions are transferred back to her...

My guess is that after this both Swati and Naina feel guilty, stay aloof for sometime and then later apologize to each other and make up..This explains the guilt in Naina's voiceover when she says that she feels bad for neglecting Swati during this period.Since Sameer never transfers the negative consequence of Naina's actions back to her,Naina never apologizes to Sameer. Relationship with Sameer therefore moves from stage 3 to stage 5 always.

My conclusion(copied from the earlier post)

I believe that these two inherent traits of Naina -constantly seeking approval and putting her needs before others in relationships where Sameer plays an indirect role will be her bane in the long run.(If she continues this way,she is sure to lose friends.)

This is where I think her GS thing will be a huge blessing.A GS post gives her open and legitimate approval. She no longer has to strive for approval.Secondly,as GS she is more powerful(a first in her life). It is important that she uses this power to develop empathy and sensitivity towards the feelings and pain of others. If she does, over a period of time her nature of putting herself first always will also change. This is Naina's chance to develop into a mature and well balanced person .It is upto Naina to use her chance wisely

Here is the link to the original(rather lengthy) post.

PS:Have updated my post based on Aswathy's observations that the changes in Naina's behaviour occured only after Sameer's entry. Thanks for pointing that out😊

Wow I really don't understand how people quote the school play incident for showing Naina as some evil manipulator.😕
What she did was momentary & impulsive. She didn't do it thinking that if Swati will not be able to go for rehearsal she would be thrown out of the play. It was childish & she was even conflicted about it.

Naina wanted to again play the role so she directly requested Swati to give up the role. When Swati refused adamantly she didn't go about plotting against her but accepted the role of sipahi to be close to Sameer. So I don't understand how this incidence is quoted to show how Naina hurt Swati.

Same is the case for her ignoring Swati's call the day when she replaced Swati for GS elections. She had reunited with Sameer & wanted to spend some quality time with him. Swati could have directly talked about her hurt the next day to Naina or even to someone else in the gang. If she wanted to be the candidate for election no one could have stopped her from proposing her own candidacy. So sorry if I don't agree with her hurt actions being justified by her hurt. It was plain jealousy & resentment against Naina.

Naina has always helped Swati or even anyone else in the one thing that she excels I.e. studies. She has never been one to not help one who required help. The only one thing that Naina did wrong as bff of Swati was hiding her friendship with Sam. But it was only because initially she felt it was one sided & later because she feared that Swati would make fun of her for thinking that Sam had any interest in her.

Naina did wrong with Sameer by breaking up with him without any confidence in her own ability to stand up for their relationship. But Sameer & Naina love each other. Hence the rules for anything amongst themselves are different than what they will show with others. How much ever friendship is as good as love , but love is always higher & expectations & concessions made for the person we love are different than what we can do for friends. That's my opinion. There are no scores kept amongst lovers. Even if we say harsh things to our lover in anger or they do the same, we still forgive them & continue to be with them. This is how it is. It is not wrong unless it's an abusive relationship which is so not the case with Sameer Naina.

Thank you for writing

It's always easier said than done.
Its easy to preach and analyse. even if we do some mistakes in life it's only human. Life situations spur us to do various things which are not always the best reaction to the stimuli. But then we are not supposed to judge a person in every situation. We all are not perfect beings. When we see perfection in a person it's just pure love. overall Naina is a good person and if Swati realise her mistake and apologise to Naina she should be given a chance. Naina apologised to Swati for hiding her crush on Sameer. Initially Swati was furious with Naina but then they united coz deep in their heart they loved each other and are friends.

Thanks for sharing your views...😊

I guess the point of the post has somehow been missed..I am not trying to portray Naina as an "evil manipulator"..That would waaay too harsh on the character.

I am simply trying to see how she reacts to various situations and people..Just because we do a post portem analysis of a character's behaviour doesn't mean that they are bad or that we are trying to portray them as evil.Such an analysis gives us a better insight into the characters behaviour because even subconscious reactions have a reason and come from deep internal unsaid thoughts. At least that is what psychology tells us.

This sort of an analysis could be done for any character or real life person.I do one such analysis for myself many a time and it actually helps me understand why i do what i do and avoid certain actions in future..But that is me . I am a logical person by nature and i understand that my way of breaking down situations and reactions appear cold to people. My analysis is merely intended to understand Naina's character better and not to malign or villify her.She is a layered character and this makes an analysis of her character more interesting than most others.

I also understand that you hv a different way of looking at things and that's great👍🏼.

Thank you for sharing your views...The post is not intended to judge, villify or malign.I agree with you when you we are all not perfect human beings..and doesn't that simply make all of more interesting? It would be so boring if we were perfect.

There are two ways of reacting to human behaviour..One is emotional and the other is logical. When we see the person, their actions and behaviour alone it is emotional, when we see the reason for their behaviour and put in perspective with earlier behaviour it is logical.I think a blanace of both makes things a lot more interesting.Your views touch more on the emotional aspect.Thank you for sharing them😊

Naina like every has her flaws and weakness. But I doubt if her mistakes can be compared with that of Swathi's. I don't know why CVs had to make Swathi's character so grey...well too early to judge as the story is still on...

Naina is very confident girl. She has always accepted the fact that she wants to win and top every activity that she takes up. If that's her strength , then her weakness is about her appearance and the family background.

She from her childhood, at home and school is being seen as not so pretty face person. Her fathers lack of affection for her , the taunts she gets from her relatives about this and her father being poor has always affected her...cant help she lives at the mercy of her chacha ji...if he was not there then she is more of an orphan...that's the reality of her life...

But all this changes when Sameer started noticing her as a girl...showering his love , time and attention...

Now coming to school drama...yes she nominated Swathi when she wanted to move out...and she was open enough to approach her when she wanted to get back...Naina uses back door policy only when it cant be achieve through front door ...and that too ONLY WHEN THE ISSUE IS RELATED TO SAMEER.
She has never plotted against Swathi by joining hands with people who don't like Swathi. When Swathi stayed put abt the role in the play she still chose an option that was given to her...would Swathi have done that , if the roles were reversed ?? I doubt...

Swathi has always copied HW from Naina...and she has shared her notes , HWs etc with out a problem...why should she do that ?? Isnt it Swathi's responsibility to complete a notes and HW...it was Swathi who was always depended on Naina and not the other way around...

The ONLY MISTAKE THAT NAINA has done to Swathi is that she hid her relationship with Sameer...but if she had told that to Swathi ...do you think Swathi would have believed and that too when Sameer hadn't confessed his love to her?? When she didn't know what place she held in his life...to some extent her instincts were rt...because Sameer was doing all that to win a bet...rt?? If she had clarity in her role in his life she would have opened up..

About Sameer, Naina had asked Swathi , how she knows that Sameer likes her ...especially when he had thrown that chit?? Her answer was teasing Naina's appearance...have we ever heard Preethi teasing Naina for her appearance...have we heard Naina teasing Swathi any time ?? NOPE

Here again during elections , Naina suggested Swathi's name when she wanted to step down...because she considered Swathi closer than Preethi. She could have suggested Preethi rt ?? She didn't , because somewhere deep in her heart Swathi was like her soul sister...sadly Swathi doesn't share the same feeling...in fact Preethi is much more closer to Naina that Swathi is ...but Naina doesn't seem to understand that ...a reality she might eventually do...

When Naina suggested Swathi's name she could have said NO?? Did she , she didn't ...and then when the rest of the GANG suggested Naina's name again , if you remember Naina reminded the GANG that it was not her , it was Swathi who was standing for the election...at that time when friends suggested Naina's name...why did she not open up...why did she not tell her the truth??

She did complain about Munna...but what has Swathi , as his GF done for Munna ?? He has many a times tried to get her attention and love ...but every time she has blamed or made fun of him...and he has accepted it with out making her feel bad or getting angry at her.

I am not saying Swathi is an evil person but she has her insecurities ...especially because Sameer chose Naina...that's where it all started...till then she never felt threatened...but the reality she needs to learn is Love is beyond the bounds of beauty or appearance. It has a mind of its own...So even if Naina is not the most beautiful person in the world...but for Sameer's eyes Naina is what he defines as beauty...that's NOT NAINA's fault...besides Naina has worked to get that place in his heart...she made efforts to know him, love him , care for him and feel for him...their relationship is not perfect but at least she tries to get it perfect...

The problem with people like Swathi are , they want to achieve things in life but they don't work towards it nor do they voice their thirst to excel. They act as if they want a simple no nonsense life but in reality that is the opposite ...they want the world to hand it to them and they want the best ..Nothing comes easy in life. It has to be earned ...one needs to put effort in winning things in life...

PS : I am not against any character of a story ...my intent is only to highlight the flaws in the character or the grey shade charted out by the writers. I love all the actors and the show...in fact the grey is perfect in Swathi's character because she did well as an actress playing the part written for her.
