Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh's son Amit and businessman Prataprao Ghorpade's daughter Aditi finally tied the knot in a lavish ceremony on Thursday at the Grand Hyatt with a galaxy of political heavyweights and Bollywood stars in attendance.

While Amit wore a blue sherwani designed by Manish Malhotra, Aditi draped a richly-textured saree in typical Karnataka style. The CM, his wife Vaishali, sons Riteish and Dheeraj welcomed the guests along with the Ghorpades. The state Cabinet was represented by Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil and his colleagues. Marketing Minister Harshwardhan Patil was playing host for the Deshmukhs. Chief Secretary Johny Joseph, Director General of Police Dr P S Pasricha and NABARD chief U C Sarangi were also present.
Apart from the governors of Maharashtra and Bihar S M Krishna and R S Gavai, J & K CM Ghulam Nabi Azad, Manipur CM Okram Singh, Union Minister Jaipal Reddy, Ministers of State Vilas Muttemvar, Suryakanta Patil, Subodhkant Sahay, Prithviraj Chavan and T Subbirami Reddy, Shiv Sena executive chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray were also seen at the wedding that took place at the Grand Ball Room of the hotel, as per Maratha tradition.
AICC general secretary Veerappa Moily, Oscar Fernandes, Ashok Gahlot, Prabha Rau, BJP leader Gopinath Munde, MPs Gurudas Kamat, Priya Dutt, Hema Malini and Sanjay Raut were present. Bollywood was represented by Asha Bhosle, Dilip Kumar and Saira Bano, Rani Mukerji, Ashutosh Gowariker, Karan Johar, Sanjay Khan and Zarine Khan. Noted social crusader Anna Hazare too mingled with the Bollywood glitterati.
Industrialists Mukesh Ambani, Rajkumar Dhoot, Kumaramangalam Birla, Sunil Mittal, Subhash Goyal greeted the newlyweds. Scions of Bhosles from Satara and Sawantwadi were also present at the nuptials.
