EXCLUSIVE: Badhaai Ho star Ayushmann Khurrana: I want to be called as

As Badhaai Ho hits the world wide web,
Ayushmann Khurrana and team will be
anxiously waiting for the reactions to pour
in. After all, not many films are made where
you see parents getting pregnant at the
age of 50. But trust Khurrana to keep up
with his reputation for doing films that
always involves SEX. Starting with Vicky
Donor then Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and
now Badhaai Ho. Is Ayushmann Khurrana
ready to accept that he is sex-zoned?
I got a chance to catch up with this always
smiling actor a day before the trailer was
made official. After watching this out of the
box trailer, I sat down with the star for a 5-
minute brief conversation where he
confesses that he was instrumental in
getting his on-screen father, Gajraj Rao on
board and he now believes sex and
reproduction is his zone when it comes to
selecting films. Read on!

Films related to Sex and Reproduction
always come to you first. Why? Is there
some special connection with you and such
topics?
Yeh pata nahi chun chun ke subjects mere
pass hi aate hain (God knows why such
subjects come to me only). I want to be
called as the king of quirks or taboo
subjects. I think it is good, kyunki yeh aise
subjects hain jo hum dekhte hain lekin film
inpe banana koi sochta nahi hai (Everyone
watches films on such subjects but not
many think of making films on this topic).
Aaj ke zamane main normally 50 years main
maa nahi banti.. (Who becomes a mother at
the age of 50 nowadays)

Did you read the script first of Badhaai Ho
or said a yes listening to the idea of the
film?
Aise hi haan bol diya, mera hi zone hai. every
year i have to do such films. Till the time the
film works people don't say anything. Actors
think that how should I look different. But
the story and the film has to be different not
you. The audience should love watching you.

Every film you do has great character
artists also. The parents, brother sister, Girl
Friend. This film has Neena Gupta and
Gajraj Rao as your parents, how was it
working with them?
I was majorly instrumental in Gajraj Rao's
casting. Ek aisa face chahiye tha jisko dekh
ke lage na ki yeh sex karta ho and Gajraj Rao
is one person (We needed a face so
innocent that no one would think that he
has sex and Gajraj Rao was the person).
Neena ji, I was sceptical because her image
was of choli ke peeche so innocence kaise
aaega? But she has done a superb job.
Are you out to break taboos and do films
that get people talking?
I think it is both ways. I want to do films
that are different. Every actor, with their first
film, starts treading a particular path. I
treaded the path of Vicky Donor, Varun
treaded the path of Student Of The Year. For
him, different is a Sui Dhaga for me different
is Andha Dhun, so you cannot leave your
staple in the middle. This is my zone hence I
keep doing such films too. For example,
Akshay Kumar has a patriotic zone, every
actor has his /her zone.
