Kamya pays the price for playing Sindoora
Kamya Punjabi, who plays Sindoora in Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, killed the leads of the show recently. However, the responses which she received for this came as a shock to her. We spoke to Kamya and the production house to find out more.
Kamya reveals, "My mother called me and told me that after the death scene had come on air our neighbours were coming and asking how I could do like that. And while I was talking to her, somebody threw a stone at me outside my studio at Jeevan Mills. I was so scared that for a few moments I was completely lost and could not understand what was happening. Then I realized that a group of about 20 people was coming towards me. I had to rush back to the studio. My production house immediately provided me with security. Some members of production team came to drop me at my place as I did not want to travel in my car alone. I can understand if such a thing would have happened outside Mumbai but here it was surely something unexpected."
Shyam, EP of the show, adds, "We were expecting such responses and I have heard many stories about it. Though I have not got any direct experience, I am aware of this incident.
Actually, Kamya grew up in the same area where she is living now. Her neighbours know her very well and they are also aware of the fact that she is an actress and she plays this role. However, when the death episode was telecasted they were upset and came to her house. Her mother tried to explain everything to them, but they were in no mood to listen. Kamya had also been worried about it. When her mother called and told her not to come to the house, Kamya decided to stay at a friend's place for one day."
We have also learnt that the channel and production house has been getting threatening calls asking the lead pair to be brought back while in Divyanka's hometown Bhopal many women wore white sarees to mourn her on-screen death.

Kamya also disclosed that Sindoora would be sporting a new look in the show. About it, she says, "I actually do not like to wear too much make up so I told my creative team I would only wear flat make-up and dark colours especially brown and maroon."
She adds, "I am not used to my new look so whenever I look at the mirror I always feel that the older one was nice. However, it is the need of the story. I had to grow old in the show and since I am Punjabi, I know that they never wear too much make up except lipsticks when they grow old. I wanted to show my character's age through my eyes so I will be wearing simple sarees and only pearl jewellery. Sindoora is very close to my heart so I have tried to show every detail changed in my look. I will also sport a loban in the show."
