There's a huge difference between other such jobs and filmmaking. If someone doesn't join a new job, the second person in line gets it unlike films where if the leading actress of the film suddenly leaves ten days before shooting, the whole schedule and budget of the film goes haywire. Production costs per day in a film is much higher than jobs in other fields. That's why there are executive producers who plan such shoots so that they are under a proper budget. Priyanka left the film ten days before shoot. That means all paperwork was already done as it usually happens.

Now calculate the loss of losing the film's leading heroine whose Bollywood comeback film was supposed to be this. So the film automatically loses a certain star value and interest among the audiences to see PC back with Salman. Then look for a new leading heroine whose stardom matches PC's. Sort date issues and see who is free. Make new contracts. New clothes, new fittings, maybe a change in directorial style by the director according to the new actor's acting capabilities.Maybe new lines, change in scenes and script that fit the new heroine. On top of that a completely new management and entourage of the new heroine, creating new accounts and agreements for them as well. At the same time, managing speculations in the media about the film about why PC left the film, doubts over the film before it has ended its shooting schedule. And while doing all of this taam jhaam all over again, losing shoot dates that could be utilized in actually shooting a film like Bharat which is a VFX heavy film being made on a big canvas. They not only lost their original leading lady but also the money spent in PR and advertising pre-shoot to announce Priyanka's association with the film. And this will happen with every film where the lead suddenly leaves without proper notice.

Priyanka is a global star. Neither Salman nor anyone powerful in BW can control her unlike a newbie or a starlet. Everyone knows that. Even Salman knows it. There's no misogyny or ego clashes here. There's just plain and simple unprofessionalism shown by Priyanka who not only left the film at the eleventh hour but also lied about the reason. (It's pretty obvious she lied as Ali was earlier talking about her engagement as the reason and now Salman talks about her Hollywood film.)
