Another interesting episode with some progress on the storyline. It was all about maa ki mamta and how it applied to the three mothers on the show, each woman having a different approach but the same great love for their sons that makes them fearless. I don't get the CVs. Sometimes we get episode after episode at snail pace and now we've had 2 back-to-back which kept me engrossed until the end, even the PR track!
Hasti is smart enough to realize Bamni didn't lose intentionally, and I hope he continues to make smart observations in future. It would be useful in the battle.
Rati as the sword-wielding Anusuya was great, but the black magic didn't succeed after a point. I am glad it's over because I hated seeing all that. Thank goodness! I am also happy that the CVs have given viewers the message that not only is black magic to be avoided at all costs but that it can backfire on the person performing it. Also, pure love can overcome bad intentions eventually so Olympias didn't get very far.
One thing is for sure, though. While duelling Anusuya proved to Porus that he has a lot of learn about combat and that he's not ready to fight ruthlessly enough against the army. Good lessons for him to learn to defend himself on the battle field. They should definitely take her to fight alongside them, she's still better than her husband and son at sword fighting.
Cleitus didn't look like a Barbie doll anymore. He was more than happy to drag Ambhikumar along and just wanted revenge.
It was great to see Alexander paying attention to minute details like he did in the past. He knew right away what Ambhikumar was up to when he asked to meet his parents one last time. Phew! I am wondering if Alexander set up the punishment just to get more information out of Ambhikumar, since he seemed to very easily let him go meet his parents. Then again, he's famous for granting people their aakhri khwahish. I am glad they didn't continue to show the punishment. It would have been horrible. Aargh!
Also, it was great to see Taxila's queen speaking up (don't know her name) to her husband and then deciding not to accept her son's death this way. Alexander really has a different way of dealing with mothers. His eyes softened when he saw the queen's tears and understood that she was also fearless when asking for her son's life to be spared. He ordered everyone gathered there to keep their eyes open and watch the ordeal but for her he made an exception and gave her the permission to leave in order to avoid seeing her son suffer.
The way he talked about understanding the mother-son bonding and his feelings for his mother was beautiful to watch. I knew he wouldn't accept her pleas though, because he does not forgive traitors and forgiving Ambhikumar's treachery would send the wrong message. It was consistent with his character. Also, I can't believe Ambhiraj just let his son take all the blame. Ugh! He only started requesting Alexander to give his son another chance after his wife started to plead.
I loved what Alexander said about the punishment fitting the crime and not the status of the person. I guess they haven't learned from what happened with Chanakya and the bull or what he did to the Thracian king or to Bessus. 😕
I want to see a more in-depth reaction of Alexander after reading the letter. The look in his eyes towards the end of the episode was something else. I hope it continues into the next episode because I want to see Rohit perform that!
Pre-cap: Chanakya is going to help save Anusuya but the PR family is probably not going to war until Anusuya recovers. He's also going to have another philosophical conflict with Porus because he won't want Olympias to be saved. Porus again will want to do the opposite, because of his principles and also a sense of guilt that his mother's life was endangered because of his decision to keep Olympias in PR for so long.
I was praying that they don't kill Olympias off because this story would be meaningless without it, but now we know that will not happen, because Porus needs to be further glorified for saving her life now. If Olympias is saved by Porus then will it be the reason for the seeds of friendship to be sowed? I won't be surprised though, if after Olympias recovers she tells him it was a mistake to save the enemy. That would be so in character. 😆
Will Alexander still have Ambhikumar put to death or will he postpone it while he goes off to rescue his mother? We know the real Ambhiraj died before the battle so I am thinking in the show he might take the blame on himself to save his son.
Has the bridge been completed already? Will Alexander be able to cross the river? Can we see the Dasyus again soon, please? 😃
