theatres on Independence Day and is
already off to a fabulous start. The film has
registered the highest opening for an
Akshay Kumar film with a staggering Rs 27
crore on the first day of its release.
The film is a period drama that tells the tale
of India's first victory in hockey, right after it
achieved independence. Akshay played the
hockey coach Tapan Das, and Mouni Roy
essayed the role of Monobina, his wife.
Akshay and Mouni have had a comfortable
camaraderie and that has reflected in their
promotions and innumerable pictures.
During the Delhi promotions, Akshay was
asked about his relationship with co-stars,
he said, "We are friends. We enjoy ourselves.
I play a lot of games with them, and there
has not been even one day on the sets that
we haven't played."
However, he added that Mouni was
snobbish on sets. "Mouni wouldn't play any
games. She was a snob on the sets of the
film!"
Mouni was quick to defend herself and said
that she used to play games like Ludo and
Snakes and Ladders. Akshay agreed and
said, "So, I just enjoy with them. I don't have
any approach. It is not like - I have been in
the industry for 28 years now and they are
new, so I will act differently. My approach
towards them is that they are really good
friends, and I try to learn and gain from
them as much as possible."
Gold clashed with John Abraham's
Satyameva Jayate at the box office. Yet, both
the films have done good business.
