I am going to bed now. I seem to have managed quite a lot with my phone in my lap! But it is time to call a halt. I hope to collar my orthopaedist come Friday, and I hope he waves his magic wand and frees my neck and shoulders!

Do see my long response to you, on the episode 181 thread, about Alexander and Olympias as performances. It should interest you.

Shyamala Aunty

PS: Kanishka would have assumed that he would simply reassume the throne, which Alexander would anticipate, and then he specifically promises the Paurav Rashtra throne to Sumer as well

I am not calling him a liar or a cheat, because I think no such thing at all! 😃 But it is likely that the Alexander hating audience might in the way that came across, and if the CVs should choose to revisit the fact.

The Dasyu rulers played into his hands, especially since he made it a point to ask Dasyurani what she believed about her son, and he just ran with it.

As for kootneeti, Alexander used his cards perfectly and made sure he kept the approach direct and simple, because that is what the Dasyus prefer too. As he said, he likes people who go straight to the point.

No sneaky business here - he just had to say he had heard about Sumer's death on the way to Dasyulok and without explicitly expressing sympathy or condolences he made them feel that he could understand their plight at feeling helpless to defend their late son's name and honor. All he had to do was stoke the fire a little, counting on the age-old Dasyu-PR rivalry and corresponding resentment to finish off the job for him. In fact, what he said was whiter than a white lie when compared to the blatant lies that Chanakya told all of them. 😉

There's apparently another great example of the real Alexander using his words to force a confession out of the assassin of Darius by saying that person would not be harmed and when Bessus did confess he killed him.

I did get the Pinocchio joke Aunty! 😆 Alexander never actually told Kanishk anything about a kingdom did he? At least I don't remember seeing a flashback scene, because it appeared as if all the instructions Kanishk received were in that letter. I thought that they only first came face to face when Kanishk showed up in Taxila after escaping PR.
