I don't understand their need to officially make a remake of a story that they already know will cause trouble for them. They could have opt for a similar kind of story about honour killing. Bollywood did make some in the past too. Why buy rights to a movie to distort it and that too distort the very core subject of the movie. This is no excuse that they couldn't afford a controversy. They didn't even had to remake the movie if they were that worried about a controversy.

Unki marzi. Probably they decided they would appeal to more people this way and probably Sairat makers just wanted to make as much money as possible from their film and were not on some social awareness campaign to demand caste angle must be there.

KJO has been apologizing from KKHH for not telling a story properly. Apparently Shabana took him to task for the sexism in that with the tomboy transformed to sari wearing pretty girl and the boy falling in love. He cannot tell a proper story with integrity about love or cancer. His life has not been easy but somehow he always covers his films and insecurities with pretty pictures, homes and people not rooted in reality. He does not have the gravitas to do it.

As for Shashank he is an insensitive jerk who wrote about Badri putting Vaidehi in the trunk of a car as punishment. Special kind of brain that one. He does not have the sensibility of a Manjule to write something decent with caste. So better they did not tackle it.
