Chapter 5
He stepped out of the hut with his mind flooded with numerous thoughts. And he stood there enjoying the rains . First time ever in his life he was feeling that unique sensation when the raindrops hits his face. When you're in love everything around you seems to be fresh nd beautiful. He turned out to an animist then. He couldn't believe that someone has stolen his heart in a day's time without his permission. He turned his face to look at her who was busy drying her hair. "oh god..she's driving me crazy."..he exclaimed. He intended to turn back..but her view was manadatory to appease his impatient soul. She caught him staring at her like an ardent admirer partially getting drenched nd got bit embarassed. She cleared her throat breaking his trance. Have the rains ceased Shaurya?...she asked trying her best to suppress her embarassment. Ya...no..ya...he stammered. Actually no, it's still raining...he added nd gently closed his eyes taking a deep breath inorder to bring his wandering mind as well as fastened heart beats under control. Ok... then why are you standing there you"ll catch cold...she said. He shook his head intending to dry the wet strands of his hair nd neared her. She made it quick to lower her gaze sensing his movements. He sat near her nd gave her a warm smile. To which she responded. I haven't informed anyone,all will be worried..it's getting late..she said worriedly breaking his thoughts as he was busy admiring her beautiful feet. Why?..you're not happy with my company?...he asked like an innocent child. No it isn't like that... all will be worried for both of us. I messaged payal that I'll be there by evening...so...she replied cutely. Ok...fine I"ll inform Arjun then..saying this he took his phone. Oh no...I never told her that I'm with you..she added worriedly. So what..even I lied to Arjun that am alone...common give me a hi fi..he said with a chuckle nd they joined their palms with a minor laugh. Ok..why you've lied Mehek...am just asking out of curiosity...he asked. Anki nd payal would kill me if they came to know that I've made a new friend without their knowledge..and I'd die giving them explanations nd clarifications...she said as if a child narrates a story. He kept on admiring her with his mouth wide open. She snapped her fingers breaking his trance. Ok..why did you lie then..she asked. Woh...woh...he stammered while continuously blinking his eyes. Actually..that's the same with me too..they won't leave a chance to tease me..he added. For what?..she asked unable to hide her curiousity. Arey..woh bike riding ke baare mein(about that bike ride nd all)..usne jab ride ke liye poocha toh meine mana kiya..(I just ignored him when he asked me to join him for a ride)..usse kahan pata..(how will he know)..ki mein char saal se bike nahi chala raha hoon..(that am not used to bike riding since 4 yrs)..aur kal aadhi raat ko test drive karke tumhe saath le aaya hoon..(after a test drive in midnight I've taken you for a ride)...he blurted out everything unknowingly nd suddenly bit his tongue when reality struck him. He was looking keenly into her eyes as if searching for an answer...while she looked at him with her wide open mouth. She raised her brows in amuse nd burst into laughter. He couldn't ignore nd joined her.
His ringtone broke their funny ambience.. Oh god ..it's Arjun..he exclaimed as the name flashed on his mobile screen. Plz attend his call..she said. nd he obeyed her.
S: Hello..buddy.
A: Hey..buddy where are you?
S: Hey..yaar. Am stuck somewhere..that's why. Actually it's raining heavily here.
A: Actually I've phoned to say that only...it's raining heavily. So you better hangout at a safe place till rain cease.
S: Ok buddy..Don't worry am safe.
A: Great..now need to contact Mehek also.. she's also been missing since morning.
S: Haan...yes..Mehek. I spotted her somewhere near just now. I think she's also residing here. Don't worry I"ll inform her. ..said Shaurya while winking at her. While she stood there surprised by his reply. Arjun thanked him nd hung up the call.
You're very smart nd cunning..she added. I'll take it as a compliment..he said with a chuckle. Now no more worries..right?..he added. But..it's too cold here...she said while shivering. He took his jacket nd covered her. But how will u manage..she sounded concerned. nd he thoroughly enjoyed her concern for him. Am fine..he replied. Within no time both of them dozed off resting their heads together.
Time passed nd he gently opens his eyes only to find the sleeping beauty resting her head on to his chest her arms wrapped around him.His palms rested on her shoulder. She was in deep slumber..her breaths synced with that of his. His watch strikes indicating 5am. The rains almost ceased. He thought of not waking her up as he felt complete being with her in her solace. "I think am in love with you Mehek" he whispered looking at her with all love. She cuddled more onto him as cool breeze wandered. He smiled admiring her cute face nd gently traced his fingers adjusting the strands of hair that partially covered her face. He found his nasal mucosa a bit irritated and got a tendency to sneeze. He kept on rubbing his nose as he feared that she'd wake up. But it was in vain..nd she wakes up..as his sneezes expels in a row. Am sorry..he apologized. It's ok..she replied nd quickly got alarmed by her sleeping position. She unwrapped her arms quickly nd gets up adjusting her hair. Am sorry...to disturb..I mean while sleeping..I just..she spoke with embarassment to clarify her sleeping position. He chuckles hearing that nd gets up. No problem..he said comforting her. Baarish ruk gayi na..(the rains have ceased right?)..she asked looking through the window while yawning. While he was busy admiring her yawns. Hey..shaurya...she asked while snapping her fingers. Wha..wha..what?..he stammered. See outside the weather is fine now..shall we leave?..she asked confused with his gestures. Ya..fine..we can leave now..he said with a cute smile. She quickly removed his jacket nd handed over to him thanking him nd moved to wear hers. Meanwhile his nostrils were blocked with her scent as he smells the jacket worn by her. He makes it quick to stop his crazy antics as she approaches him. And finally they left the hut nd heads towards the resort.
She was sound asleep throughout the ride. While he really enjoyed the ride. Meanwhile he caressed her soft palms that were wrapped around his chest. After an hour's journey they finally reached the resort. He never intended to leave her..but was forced to as he never want himself to be caught with Bike..that too with Mehek. "Mehek"...plz wake up we've reached..he said lovingly. She gently opened her eyes as the bright sunrays falls on it. She slowly lifts her chin nd unwraps her arms. He felt really bad at that time. She gets off the bike nd thanks him. Thankyou Shaurya for the ride..it was really lovely...she said with a warm smile. Thankyou Mehek...he said looking at her intently nd was lost in her. Why are you thanking me Shaurya?..she asked him surprisingly breaking his trance. That..that.. You trusted to come with me right..that's why...he clarified with a chuckle. Ok..ok...I"ll accept it..she said with a smile. And next time do teach me how to ride a bike..she added. He was on cloud nine hearing that. Ofcourse I'll do..he replied like an enthusiastic child. I hope you"ll not require a test drive from now..she said smiling naughtily nd left bidding him bye. He stood there laughing like a fool , waving at her disappearing figure. "she's only your friend"..I see..said Chotu bhaiyya while patting his shoulder breaking his riverie. Bhaiyya...aap..I mean..I didn't notice you..Shaurya said while scratching his head to hide his embarassment. Chotu bhaiyya laughed at his antics nd pulls his cheeks. Aur baataon..how was your ride?..bhaiyya asked. It was so so so..beautiful bhaiyya...thanks a lot for giving me your bike. Shaurya said excitedly nd hugged him. Bhaiyya...woh...actually..he was about to say something. Bhaiyya interrupts him...All are sleeping..don't worry. He thanked bhaiyya nd made his way to his room. Both Mehek nd Shaurya entered their rooms stealthily without disturbing their buddies nd joined them in the bed nd resumes their sleep.
After few hours,Mehek opens her eyes gently nd finds her buddies Anki nd payal sitting on either side of her bed nd glaring at her. What?...she asked them while getting up. That's our question sweetheart..the duo said in unison. Where were you yesterday?..you didn't inform us...and you came back with Shaurya..the duo bombarded her with qns. Plz guys chill...am sorry..I went with Shaurya for a ride yesterday..mehek replied like an innocent child. Now from where did this Shaurya came..that u forgot your dear frnds...complained Ankita. Tell us what's going on between you two..in just too days this much friendship...teased Payal. Bhai hamein toh kabhi usne ride keliye nahi poocha..(he never asked us anyone of us to join him for a ride)..something is smelling fishy...right Anki...added payal. Wahi toh..Shaurya doesn't even talk to us much..teased Anki. This is something else payal..added Anki." Stop beating around the bush"..what are you guys intending to tell..asked a confused Mehek. Time will tell you sweetheart...said the duo in unison while laughing. Mehek was still confused. Ok leave that..now you need complete rest u r having fever ..said payal while giving her a tablet . Mehek immediately touched her forehead to ensure the same. Yesterday u had great fun right , so be a good girl nd take rest until we are back..said Anki. But where are u going?..mehek asked with concern. Oh madam..yesterday since you two were missing we dropped our plan...said payal teasingly. Ok ..ok..bye... replied mehek with a sad pout. Meanwhile in Shaurya's room. Arjun was reading Shaurya's temperature. 102 degrees ...this was bound to happen...exclaimed Arjun. What?..asked Shaurya. When someone shows his heroism by riding bike, offering jacket etc..etc.. replied Arjun with a chuckle. Shaurya's eyes popped out hearing his words..nd asked..bit embarrassed...how come you know buddy? I saw you when you landed here this very morning with that bike...and the way you were caressing that jacket...I can very well conclude everything buddy..said Arjun with a naughty smile. Shaurya scratches his head to hide his embarassment. Something really happened to you my buddy..your plan to stay back, bike ride..etc etc...added Arjun. Will have a detailed discussion about this in the evening..it's time for us to leave now. We've planned for bonfire so be ready... Take care nd don't worry..staffs will be there for your help..bye ...said Arjun while leaving the room. Shaurya kept his palm on his forehead thinking about his antics. Soon the effect of antibiotics took both Mehek nd Shaurya into a deep sleep. And they both slept for hours.
Shaurya woke up in the afternoon while cuddling his pillow. He gently rubbed his eyes nd heads towards the washroom to freshen up. After a hot shower he heads towards the balcony wrapped in a towel. He gently closes his eyes to feel the moment. He remembers his moments with her,her cuteness, her smile, her innocence, her beauty...everything was just driving him crazy. He felt like she's in every breath he respire. He feels like missing her. He curses himself for not being able to see her till evening. He was about leave the balcony... but something catches his attention. And.. yes there she's..in the open balcony..drying her hairs with a towel. He jumped out of excitement seeing her. God...she's here ..he exclaimed. He wished to see her so close.. he was not pleased with the distant view. He made it quick to change his clothes and headed towards the pool side room. There she was ,in a simple floral skirt nd top... drying her wet hair strands. He greeted her with a warm smile nd she too responded. She was surprised to see him there...but was hesitant to ask him. I thought you were not here...he said. Actually I caught fever..nd they asked me to stay back..she replied. Same pinch...me too had fever..he said without thinking. Oops ..sorry.. How are you now?..he sounded concerned. Am fine...perfectly fine ..she replied with a smile. And what about you?...she asked. Me too perfectly fine..he replied with a chuckle. Later on she joined him for a walk. She was continuously blabbering nd he kept on admiring her. She narrated the whole conversation with her buddies..nd he was eagerly waiting to know whether she has some feelings for him. But he didn't get any hint. He was falling more for her soul than her enthralling physical appearance. The way she admires nature, her notion about life, her voice, her simplicity ,her innocence... everything was just picture perfect for him. He thanked god for making him lucky enough to fall for her. On the other hand she was thoroughly enjoying his company...may be for the first time in her life she has developed such a strong friendship with a boy..that too within a day's time. He was different from all. To be more precise...he was unique nd has an imperishable aura. She couldn't explain or understand the depth of their relation. They continued their talks, had lunch together nd got to know more about each other's life. She even didn't hesitate to share her top secrets, favourites, hobbies,likes nd dislikes with him. She experienced a homely feeling being with him. Her every expression, every word, every gesture...justified his choice of a perfect life partner. Yes..he wants to be with her whole life. Seconds passed to minutes nd minutes to hours..still both of them never paused their convos..may be they never intended to. As they were wandering near the pool..they were alarmed by the arrival of their buddies. Both parted their ways..bidding bye...nd left to join their friends. All of them gathered in the lobby nd enquired about Mehek nd Shaurya's well being nd discussed about their next plan..to set the bonfire.
After an hour all gathered in an isolated area around the bonfire. All were seated around it..nd mehek nd Shaurya were sitting facing each other. She passed a smile onto him while he kept on admiring her without blinking his eyes. Hello guys..attention please..voiced Arjun breaking his trance. Guys..this is the second-to-last night of our reunion here in Shaheen bagh..so let's enjoy nd have fun... And yes..tomorrow is valentine's day..nd we've arranged a special party tomorrow..said Arjun. And all cheered for him. The boys nd girls were teamed up against each other to play Antakshari. Mehek was completely immersed in the game..while Shaurya kept on stealing her glances. After playing several rounds of the game everyone requested Shaurya to sing a song. He held a guitar nd voiced a romantic song. Throughout the song he was looking only at her. Even she found herself lost in his soulful sound nd looked at him, tapping her fingers to the beats. As the song ended..a big round of applause broke their trance. After their funny chits nd chats..all of them moved around the bonfire shaking their feets on some hit numbers. Mehek was completely lost in the music nd she danced beautifully. Everyone joined her..except for Shaurya who was busy admiring her, her expressions, her moves...nd he was taken back to their past memories where she used to mesmerize everyone with her graceful performances. His heart beats seemed dancing with every move of hers. He really thanked his mother in his heart for forcing him to attend the reunion. Else he would have missed this beautiful sight, this beautiful person called Mehek..nd this beautiful feeling called love. All parted their ways after hours of enjoyment nd headed towards their rooms. Mehek nd Shaurya missed to see each other nd both felt bad. She got herself busy with her buddies chit chatting in her room. He was craving to talk with her nd wish her good night. He wanders around the pool side room restlessly nd sees her through the large window. He caught her blowing gently over her nails nd spots a hot kettle near her. He gets worried nd without giving time for a thought he jumps into her room through the window. The girl trio gets shocked seeing him. He quickly grabs her hand...why can't you be careful...he sounded concerned. While she was dumbfounded seeing his action. Batao..kahan lagi hai..(tell me where is the burn)..he asked worried. What?..she questioned. You were blowing air into your wounded fingers right?...he asked with atmost concern. The trio burst into laughter..making him perplexed. I was drying my nail polish...she said while flashing her nails. Oops sorry.. Woh..woh...actually I thought you were hurt...he said while scratching his head . Acha..how did you find that her hand is hurt...that too from a distant view...asked payal teasingly. Actually..I was..just passing by your room..that's it..he said trying to cover up. Is it?...added Anki in a teasing tone. Ok..then..bye...Good night Mehek...he said intending to leave. Acha ..you won't wish us?..the duo teased him. No..actually.. ya yes..goodnight Ankita nd Payal..he said bit nervously. Mehek gestured her friends to not to tease him again. He moved towards the door. Excuse me Shaurya..you came this way..said Anki teasingly pointing towards the window. Oops...sorry..I forgot..he said trying to hide his embarassment nd made it quick to leave the room. The trio laughed at his funny antics. He kept on cursing himself upon the scene nd headed towards his room. See..Mehek..we told you na..this doesn't seem like only friendship...said Anki. What?..asked Mehek. Hey girl..don't try to fool us...all these are indications of love..seems like that handsome is in love with you...added payal. No..it's not like that..don't talk rubbish...we are just good friends...said mehek annoyingly. We bet you..tomorrow is valentine's day right..you just wait..he"ll be coming with a bunch of roses to propose you..said payal. Are you girls crazy..he just came in..nd u r cooking up stories...said Mehek. Is it?..what about that bike ride exclusively for you..nd did you notice he was continuously staring at you while singing that song...nd we can evidently see love in his eyes...said Anki. Just plz stop this rubbish guys..we are just friends..till now no one has proposed me..the same is applicable for my future too..now don't eat my ears..said Mehek angrily while pulling the blanket proceeding to sleep.
Few hours passed..Mehek and Shaurya were unable to sleep . Both were tossing in their beds. He was lost in his thoughts about confession. He made up his mind to confess his feelings for her on valentine's day. Don't know how?...but I can't sleep properly unless I confess my feelings...he said to himself. On other hand her buddies words were wandering in her mind. She was recollecting their moments, their chats, his gazes, the words he spoke about love in the hut, the way she slept on his chest. She was really perplexed. Millions of thoughts were wandering in her mind. Is he in love with me??..no..no..this can't be possible..no one had that feeling for me..so its not possible..she said herself. I should not think about all these things..am not a lover type girl..she said pacifying herself. He was dreaming about his proposal while she was not intending to dream anything like that. After few hours..sleep over took them.
Next whole day..both of them were busy with their buddies nd even couldn't catch a glance of each other. He really missed her but his thought about proposal made him happy. Finally, everything was set for the valentine's party. As the sun sets..the party area of the resort lit up with fancy lights. The hall was decorated with glitters nd heart shaped red balloons . All were gathered in the hall on time. Both of them were stealthily looking for each other. She was draped in an elegant red chiffon saree on payal's insistence. He was dressed up in a red tuxedo. After few minutes..she was the first one to catch his glance..nd he was looking really handsome.nd to her surprise she saw him approaching the trio. See Mehek..we told you na..look he's here to propose you..said Anki with a naughty smile. Mehek shushed them. The duo were shocked to see him approaching them free handed..while Mehek was bit releived. He was just taken aback by her beauty..but soon shifts his gaze fearing her friend's reaction. Happy valentine's day guys..he wished. Thankyou Shaurya..mehek replied happily. While the duo were still in disbelief. He excused himself thinking about his plan. While Mehek looked at her buddies reaction nd laughed. Kinder garden kids are even better...commented payal. While Mehek suppressed her laughter. Ok..there's nothing like that in his mind..we are just good friends ..cleared your doubts...said Mehek bit confidently. The duo left her. nd she stood there literally thanking god. The party went on very well with music, dance nd fun. Mehek nd Shaurya were busy stealing their glances but they never talked. He was getting desperate enough to confess his feelings but somehow he couldn't..as they were surrounded by their buddies. When it was 11:45 ..almost all of them started leaving the party. He was getting hell worried about his confession. He couldn't take it any more nd he spots her in a corner enjoying the sweet desert Gulab jamun. He quickly neared her nd held her hand nd took her to a lone area near the hall. She was bit surprised by his action..but she couldn't utter a word as she was busy munching the sweet. He was breathing heavily..nd found bit nervous. What happened Shaurya?..she asked. Woh..woh... he stammered while scratching his head. She was skeptical about his behaviour. Her buddies words were ringing in her mind. She tried to put aside her thoughts by blabbering continuously. Mehek..I want to say something to you...he said calmly. His hot breaths were falling onto her face. Is he intending to propose me?...no it can't be...she said in her mind. You know Shaurya..Anki said that someone would propose me today..see how funny...she said bringing up an artificial smile. Joke...joke.. She blabbered like a fool. Now she was in extreme edge of fear that he'd propose her..because she was not used to all these things..she started sweating. Even he noticed her mannerisms..he thought for a while..nd said..ok Mehek I'll tell you while you eat this. He gently took one big sweet nd placed it in her mouth. She was just lost in his actions..nd she couldn't move her lips. He shut his eyes tighlty nd took a long breath inorder to relax. He gently held her hand and caressed her bracelet. He took the broken heart piece from his pocket nd joins it with the bracelet with the help of glue. She got perplexed by his action as well as surprised by seeing the broken heart piece. He gently caressed the joined heart piece. God has sent me this broken heart piece Mehek.. Now am joining this..to ensure you that I wont break your heart never ever in my life...I just wanna be your heart beat..that beats only for you..I just wanna spend my whole life with you...I want you to be the air I breathe...I'm..I'm ..in love with you .. crazily. ..he said looking into her eyes with atmost sincerity nd love filled eyes. She stood there just flabbergasted by his words. He was just looking deeply into her eyes..while she looked at him in amuse without blinking her eyes. The sugary syrup was dripping from the sweet. He gently moved towards her nd bites the delicious soft succulent juicy tempting Gulab jamuns resting on her lips. She shockilngly rolls her eyes. He closes his eyes to enhance the quality of the gustatory experience nd contracts his lips gently brushing hers. She makes it quick to munch the rest of it..in fear. While he chuckles... She nears a wall for her support. She was panting heavily. She couldn't utters single word as she was dumbfounded. He neared her fastening her breaths. Happy valentine's day my love..he whispers in her ears. And then it strikes twelve in the pendulam clock. He sighs nd thanks god. And yes tell your friend that , that someone is none other than Shaurya Khanna..he says with a naughty smile. While she stands there unable to judge anything...
